New Zealand with a camper van do it! We just finished a two month trip on the north and South Island, what a beautifull country!
There was only a bad taste about the camper van, we paid a daily amounts of 136 dollar in the height season for a old camper van more than 400.000 km. We ended up spending 3 days in garages, with the problem of a not opening side door still unsolved.
Words from the garage mechanics, campers from wendekreizen are way past there life time.
The price quality situation of there camervans is not right.
Their words, mechanical things break down is true of course, but campers with more than 400.000 (rental) kilometers break down just a bit more.
If you chose to rent with this company, ask at forehand what camper you get and how many km's it runned. Plus, ask about the contract you have to sign at picking up the camper it is not worth spending time at garages in your precious holiday time!
Enjoy New Zealand!
Regards Milou and Erwin from the Netherlands!
A pleasure to deal with the staff and van was in great shape. The only improvement, and it is minor, is to have USB chargers for house battery in the Cora 2 + 1 and sharp knives in the utensil box.
Awesome friendly staff at the Auckland depot, The lady went right out of her way to see us right! (All 6 of us!) On our trip we did need technical assistance also and Stuart got us immediately sorted. Comfortable, Clean, mechanically sound camper.. Will be a returning customer for sure!!
This company is great! Friendly, helpful staff at both Auckland and Christchurch depots. We got a budget 2 berth campervan which was big enough for 2 adults and small enough to negotiate winding roads. We visited during the NZ winter and the price was a third of the high season. Other companies were charging more than twice what we paid for smaller vehicles. If you're not accustomed to driving a standard shift, I would recommend hiring an automatic shift because driving on the left side of the road takes a few days to get comfortable.
This is a second tier campervan hire place. For our holidays, we decided to use this company and we got a Koru 2+1 berth Toyota hi ace hi-top campervan. It was also certified as self-contained which made it suitable for freedom camping.
A bit of hiccup when we took delivery of the vehicle because they were waiting for a locksmith to check the central locking. Pre delivery briefing was very good and fairly comprehensive. Because of the delay, we got a refunded large breakfast from next cafe which was a much appreciated bonus.
Trouble free throughout and we really packed the miles and was our home for 3weeks. Very comfortable and though the vehicle getting a bit long in the tooth, the engine performed at 12ltrs/100km.
On return, the staff were very friendly and accommodation and final checks did not take long. Courtesy shuttle to the airport. We will definitely us this company again.
