Bacon & egg buttie is top notch, great coffee, friendly service, nice outdoor area. And good beer on tap to boot.
Came here for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast:The bacon and egg butty is the business! Dinner was amazing. Great coffee too !!
Fast service, breafast was awesome. I has the mushroom ragout and it was awesome
This place had strong decor, the kind of ambience at first glance that smells of coolness and pompous, pretentious hipsterism. But it turned out to be mellow as flipaccept for the staff that was short with meeven with my nicest smile and kindest yankee accent. The coffee was delectable, though, even in a takeaway cup. Overall impression; for being cool, it was awfully welcoming and relaxed.
Almond croissants are delicious. Coffee good and strong. Wait staff excellent and kids hot chocolates well executed
"The best hot chocolate in town + possibly the world" Well, my advice is to open your eyes and try somewhere else. What they wrote on blackboard is much over then the actual taste of their hot chocolate. Whittaker's chocolate stick is great, but hot chocolate it self is too milky. Doesn't taste much chocolate!!
First time visit to Wanaka, had this cafe recommended by a local. Ordered the Bacon Butty with fries and a cappuccino.
Really tasty food, it's hard to get fries that stand out nowadays but these definitely did. Great coffee, friendly service, 5 stars from me.
Five star food and service. They boast about their hot chocolate and it did not disappoint. The Japanese pancake with pork belly was very satisfying as was the haloumi salad. The waitress was extremely delightful and they had a picture menu on the iPad
Best place in town. Good good. Lovely people.
Quick service and helpful staff when having breakfast with a baby. The scrambled eggs weren't too much fun though. Coffee was ok. I expected more as the place looks really funky.
I don't normally go out of my way to give a place a bad review, but for this place I give an exception. If I could give this establishment 0/5 I would certainly do that, because I was forced to leave before even ordering, due to the absolutely disgusting treatment from the waitstaff.
To put in context, I am a 29 year old Australian male and I have never felt like a subclass citizen in my life before entering this establishment.
I walked in with my partner, whom both and I have tattoos(I earn 120k a year in an executive role, I am not criminal looking by any standards) and immediately received repulsive looks from staff. After asking for a seat, I was informed it would be a 45 minute wait for food,f from what I believe was some kind of deterrent from actually agreeing to be seated at this place. After saying this was acceptable, the staff disgruntledly shoved us in a corner. After waiting 15 minutes to be asked for drinks, I was asked for ID(once again, I am 29) I presented ID, I was told this was 'not up to New Zealand standards' - I followed with mine and my partners Australian passport which was also apparently not acceptable. Utterly repulsive treatment of customers - avoid this place like the plague if you value customer service and proper treatment. If you are a tourist go to any other establishment if you want to be treated like a human.
Wanaka is a beautiful town but this place is the worst treatment I have ever received abroad and in my own country. I have nothing bad to say about the town, but honesty if you want good service in this town - go to ANY other restaurant because all this place delivers is repulsion and prejudice.
I would love more restaurant take inspiration from them. The price is similar to other restaurant but the food is simply an explosion of flavour. We came for brunch and had to come back for 2 for 1 pizza the day after (wed-Sunday) ! We tried all the pizza and salmon is magic and for brunch the Japanese pancake (but try everything as everything is gold)
