5 Star is definitely a stretch, maybe in the '90s. Very outdated even with attempts to modernise the place. Something just didn't sit right with me from fact the couch is uncomfortable to sit on right through to not having linen on the fold out bed. The shower heads are too low as you must stand/crouch in the jacuzzi to have a shower. The television reception is shocking, barely able to watch movies or sport and the pillows are super hard and uncomfortable. The final thing was charging my credit card I used when booking rather than my eftpos card like every other hotel I stay in does.

It all just seemed a little odd to me. Would not be my first choice next time.

If you get the lady behind the counter, you're lucky she is very friendly. The male on the other hand, not so much.

They did not tell us till we checked in that we could not stay as they do not take debit plus cards I offered a cash bond (had put $500 aside for incidentals anyway and had plenty money on debit card) - never told us when booking and didn't care that we drove a long way and just to get a no before we even walked in the door - The woman at the desk answered nothing and stared at you funny until a little man come out and was pretty blunt and adiment that we could not stay no matter what (even said that my mother was just down the road and could use her credit card but he disagreed so i think it was more personal than about the credit card by this stage) Thank god we found Quayside Luxury Apartments across the road and down a bit - Much better and the same price for a whole floor apartment with a heated pool on the roof and rooms were amazing - Hands down the Quayside Luxury Apartments is the best place we have ever stayed.

It was a beautiful place right in the center of town. The staff was beyond accommodating and friendly. Felt like we knew the owner, Mel forever. Extremely clean rooms. Also, the rooms had everything you would need. If I ever make it back to New Zealand, I would definitely stay here again.(from the states)
