Wonderful food. Surprisingly sophisticated for such a small town. Had a casual lunch here of sandwiches & wraps & soup. Creamy tomato soup was so flavorful. At dinner salmon was cooked perfectly and the chicken was very lightly panko coated and juicy & tender
Yes, there're only a few food options in this area, so you'll probably stop here if you're hungry. But. Don't expect a good service like in a city. And maybe the food after 6pm (when the place opens for dinner is better), however, what was cooked for us at 4pm was not as nice as in the pictures. We did not finished..
Maybe it's local standard, but the welcome, as well, was strange:
"We'd like to have something to eat"
"What would you like to it. The restaurant opens at 6"
Thanks for the lady (guest of the restaurant) who explained that there is a counter with food and menu on the wall behind the corner (which you cannot spot from the entrance) for the things you can order before kitchen opens for dinner.
Decent food in a small town with very few restaurant options. My salmon was perfectly prepared. The service when I was there was very slow. It took one hour for us to get our food. They appeared to be short of help.
Warm and cosy. Beautiful setting. views of the mountains while sipping coffee waiting for Northern express to arrive
Delicious food. Friendly staff. Good for kids (proper food for the kids as well), but amazing dishes for grown ups too. Best in town
Good food and service. A great meeting point for any traveller or tangariro local
Kitchen staff walked past me twice as i waited to be served. no acknowledgment. nothing. i left without being served. bummer as the front reception staff was very helpful when i came two days ago.
Another amazing experience to be had in the area, everything was top notch, do try Sunday roast. 5 star for sure.
Great food and service. Staffs are excellent and friendly, food is exceptionally delicious also the ambience is nice.
Very nice little Caffe. Good food options as in warm foods and slices. Friendly staff.
Went there for lunch and loved it. The steak and beer pie might be the the best pie I've had.
We tried going there again that evening to get some dessert and it was really awkward. The evening staff was amazingly slow and didn't seem to aware of what they were doing.
I still give it for stars because we were that pleased with lunch.
Perfect place for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Nice selection of cakes. Good coffee. And steak was amazing after day full of trekking.
The food was outstanding, but be advised you should have a reservation, even if you're a small party. They have limited staff and want to create a great experience for all of their diners.
