Great place to stay when passing through Kaikoura, friendly host and access to the beach. Big kitchen and shower. Pool table and ping pong as well.

Wonderful place, wonderful hosts. Stayed there multiple times already and love exploring kaikoura from the lodge. Everything is clean, the new world and the city centre are only a few minutes walking distance.

Awesome place, really pleasant mother son owner team keeping everything in clean and working order. 100GB (!!) of high speed wifi with our stay - easily the best deal we've found in NZ. When combined with the table tennis and billiard tables provided, we ended up staying a night extra and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Best hostel I stayed in New Zealand. The owner is awesome.
Everything is perfectly clean, alot of space in rooms and kitchen. Strong unlimited wifi connection. Lovely games room , bikes for free to get to the town ( 10-15 mins walk ). Free PC use . With built-in camera for Skype. Recommendedresponse / report this review -

We didn't stay in the sunrise lodge as we changed our mind on a very short term basis because we wanted to move on to Christchurch late in the evening. Anyway, we met the owner of the lodge and asked him to cancel our reservation although it was after 7 in the night. He is a great guy with a sweet dog and we had a nice chat. Afterwards he also showed us all the facilities just to let us know what we missed;). Everything looked very clean, modern and it seemed that you have more than enough space there with a great living room. Therefore, we recommend this hostel.
