There is nothing special about Slope point BUT the forest nearby is a different story. Amazing spooky crooked trees because of strong wind. Worth a visit.
Road is currently closed Pain in the arse It's a long walk but totally worth it. Truck drivers don't want you walking on the road while they are working and they are finished by 6pm.
Terrible drive over large gravel for over 4-5km. A 20mins walk from the parking area to the signage which is near the cliff.
Nice scenery but not worth the drive
A fairly long drive down some gravel roads off the main road. From here it's about a ten minute walk to slope point. The wind can be biting here and makes the walk that much tougher if you're not used to it.
Small parking area, nice for a stop over to say you've been at the most southerly point of the south island. Dramatic cliffs and rocky surf the best part of the view
Nothing particularly special about this place. Nice views, but not worth the jarring drive across kilometres of unsealed road.
On a clear day you'd probably get beautiful ocean views if you take the short walk down to the signpost near the cliffs that marks the most Southerly point of the South Island of New Zealand. If you're unlucky, like I was, you'll fight your way through the sheep field in gale force winds and driving rain so you can get a photo of the sign against a grey sky with almost zero visibility. I'm still glad I went though.
Most southern point of New Zealand
Beaaautiful place! You are in the most southern place of the south island. You'll get amazing views here
Southernmost Point on the South Island of New Zealand. Short walk from the small parking area to the sign. Beautiful views of the ocean and cliff side 😊
