Penguin tour is great, really good to see the penguins come ashore. Staff were informative and helpful. Venue is lovely. Be prepared for conditions as can be cold waiting for penguins to come home.

Thanks to staff for having an albatross fly over a number of times giving us excellent photo opportunities. Thanks to the young lady who gave us an excellent talk and tour of the bird hide/observatory and the harbour defence fort with disappearing gun.

Magnificent Hot Chocolate at the Royal Albatross Centre Cafe! Amazing tour with well informed docents. We saw an amazing flight display by an incoming albatross. The tour of the nesting grounds and military fit made for a memorable experience!

There's a very informative and interactive exhibits about their history and native species around here. You can even buy some overpriced souvenir. Loads of info for tourists

Nice setting on the Otago Peninsula. Stopped here for a coffee with the family, almost broke the bank at $6 for a coffee. Thankfully the coffee was nice! Also some interesting history and facts in here.

This is a wonderful place & the back story to the centre is remarkable however the customer service, or lack thereof is atrocious! We arrived there about midday, not at any stage where we greeted by anyone! The two women behind the counter never even looked up at us. We wandered around the centre looking at the exhibits, learning about the albatross & other wildlife, this in itself is great but we had no contact with any of the humans, except for what i can only assume was a tour guide who said excuse me as she squeezed past me!!! We then proceeded to look through the gift shop, as per most tourist gift shops it is overpriced however I was going to purchase a hoodie but still not one person acknowledged us so I didn't end up buying it. As a Kiwi tourist I was really disappointed in the lack of customer service.

Good information on the tour. Scenic area, and interesting wildlife. The ticket price goes towards conservation which is a plus.

It was okay, I expected something more but I guess I saw everything they promised: flying albatrosses, their chicks. The guide was very good and told us a lot of different facts about the birds. If you are interested in seeing flying albatrosses and don't want to spend $50 for a ticket, don't bother going there then. Birds are flying around the building and on the coast too, so if you're lucky, you'll see them anyways.

Incredibly beautiful surroundings. 5/5 scenery. The tours at the centre are ridiculously expensive so did not do them, so -3 stars for that

Our guide was very informative and we were able to see 3 albatrosses in flight and saw two albatrosses with their chicks. You can't get too close but they provide binoculars. My 70-200 f4L on my full frame dslr did a better job than the binoculars though. Well worth the money.

A very well laid out centre offering tons of information including interactive displays in a modern building close to fur seals and penguins. There's a spacious cafe, clean rest rooms and plenty of parking. Great views on a clear day. There is also information on the history of the region including very old gun placements

With this attraction it's one of the few I have been to that thrive in poor weather. The windy, gloomy day was ideal weather for the albatross to come out. The per adult cost is $50, or $55 if doing the extra "ultimate" tour.

We saw a good number from the observatory, without binoculars and more with. All told there were approx 10 of these quite impressive birds gliding around outside or holes up on nests.

Tours are run fairly often, though if you are planning to do the tour of the old tunnels and the disappearing gun then it would be good to call and check the timing as these do not run as often (we had a 2 hour wait, but it's only $5 more to do).

It's not the cheapest place, but the money goes to the restoration so in my opinion it's worth it if you are so inclined.

Also note that you can walk down to the beach (left of the road in) where the seals are and there are viewing areas past the car park that are also free to use.
