An amazing place if you like junkwars or steam punk aesthetics. We spent a couple of hours here soaking it in. Totally amazing.

Many quirky and interesting things here and well worth the money. Be sure to check everything out. The staff here were very friendly. We spent about an hour here.

Some interesting parts, the mirror room for example, but some not particularly well thought through components as well. Overall a reasonable way yup spend an hour or so for ten bucks.

Amazing art all a bit dark though but blown away by creativity

Rating this place lowly because it is steampunk IN NAME ONLY. It is more of a scrap metal sculpture exhibit than it is anything else. No brass, no steam, no Victorian outfits, no goggles, and worst of all no moving parts aside from one thing that had some bike chains that moved a bit.
Most of the scrap sculptures have a little sign with some background on them, usually in the form of a short story that seems like it was written by someone trying to emulate the SCP wiki.

The local shops surrounding the "Steampunk" HQ are far better for genuine steampunk culture and most of the shop owners seem very enthusiastic about it.

I think the Steampunk HQ is worth seeing as it is still a pretty neat place, but the name is very disingenuous and misleading. Do not come here if you're actually after steampunk culture, instead explore the shops nearby.

awesome place created with a lot of passion! This HQ and the town around is definitely worth a visit.
Combine the visit with some local beer or fresh made delicious croissants at the bakery nearby.

The Oamaru community have done an awesome job bringing the old part of Oamaru back too life. Well worth a visit and a poke around. And don't forget to go down to the harbour side.
