Primarily stayed here for a location to crash at following evening banquet at Hobbiton. For that purpose it was excellent. Went to the hot springs pool as well which was a totally cool walk by the river among the ferns. A unique experience. Parts of the hotel are well maintained. Other parts are not so much. My shower lever spun around and couldn't seem to figure out what temperature it wanted to be. If you're looking for a fancy bathroom you won't want my room here. If you can handle old fashioned faucets on the sink for hot and cold in two separate spouts than this place is quaint. The Wi-Fi was excellent here. Sent out heaps of videos and backed the phone up.

wheres the KIWI hospitality ?? we had a really bad experience today maybe a bar lady with better PR skills , a happier disposition , politeness would have been better over priced food.

We had a sales conference at the Okoroire Hotel, the staff couldn't have been more helpful! The rooms were very comfortable and the food in the restaurant was fantastic! We all agreed that Okoroire Hotel was very good value for money and look forward to our next visit.

Nice location. Hotpools were magic at night, breakfast was good. Rooms were comfortable, but really dated ( we were in the chalets) hence the mark down from 5 stars. If you're into golf you'd probably never leave.

Hotel, Golf course and Hot Springs need to be reviewed and monies spent on up grade as very tied. They need more staff, food upgrade, bar not stocked properly, dress code slack with people turning up in bush singlet's, stubby shorts and jandels in dining room for dinner and drunk. Staff need help as not enough of them to cope with orders and general stock of food not there. Breakfast was the worst I have had ever. Golf course tied, needs a full time green keeper and charging $10.00 to play is not even in the real world. Charge more for heaven sake! Hot pools were dirty but what put us off having a swim was people sitting around drinking and drunk. Dead flowers in all the vases around the hotel. Unqualified people on reception double & triple booking same rooms.
The Hotel is owned by the Chinese and really tells you the full story. How does something so historical to NZ end up being sold to overseas concerns? Will not go again.

Dog friendly camping, nice pub meals plus restaurant breakfast available. Very basic facilities made up for by being able to soak in the hot pool (extra cost for campers, free with hotel accom).

Absolutely brilliant. Exceptionally friendly staff even when busy which it was with the winter fun ride. Excellent room. Lovely, clean and comfortable bed. Great food and reasonably priced. Hot pools were also worth a dip. Saw glow worms at night so pretty spectacular. Interesting items to look at wherever you turned. Comfortable, easy going atmosphere. Will definitely go again.
