Well, the cages are mostly empty, which could be a good sign that they only keep them to breed and release the animals to the wild after.

As a local with a toddler we have an annual pass for 1 child plus any adult. My daughter loves it and other adults can take her too.

Facilities are a little run down but it's got a good range of animals.

Great for the little kids, fed some of the animals, petted the rabbits. The new kea enclosure is great, as you walk through and can get right up close

Friendly knowledgable staff, interactive park, some animals you can feed. Small playground for an ice cream break with the kids. Not large, ideal for small kids up to about 9 imo.

A great little zoo. A couple of well spent hours. Looks like some development is happening which bodes well for the future. Well with a look. Allow 1-3 hours, porcupines are fed in the late afternoon about 3.30. friendly helpful staff.

It's well laid out. The animals are in as natural terrain as is possible. The staff are very friendly and always up for a chat about what they are doing and the animals they are looking after. They seem to have a wealth of knowledge. There is always improvements going on with minimum of disruption to the animals and us the visitors. Highly recommend to all.

I visited 10 years ago with my older children and decided to come back with Miss 5. She had a fantastic time and loved getting close to and feeding the animals. Only cost $15 for us both and we spent hours here.
A short walk from the beach, park and our hotel we loved how convenient it was.
We love that is involved in conservation of our native species and has a breeding program for native birds.
One of the rare places you can see a real Tuatara!
