Although I have not personally stayed at this lodge, a while back my partner and I were hiking around the gorge. We hopped up to the lodge to grab a bite to eat before driving back to CHCH. The sign said they were closed so we turned around to leave, but the lovely lady who runs the lodge urged us through the door. Even though it was her and her husband's day off, they cooked us a beautiful meal so we wouldn't have to drive home hungry. Never have I met such hospitable, gracious business owners. The food was excellent, and from what we saw of the lodge itself, everything was clean and welcoming. Additionally, the view from the lodge is stunning. I definitely recommend.

Lovely views and wonderful friendly staff. Food was delicious on Thursday night. Great entertainment while we ate. Jo is very good on the guitar and has a good singing voice. Are there any plans to put a heated indoor pool in?

Glorious views and outstanding location. Rooms are dated, but you are there for the amazing piece of nz, not for super modern rooms.

Surrounded by stunning views, Mt Hutt is a lovely place to stay where you'll still get personalised service. Your hosts Jo and Butch are friendly and more than helpful if you have any questions about the area. Butch (also a chef) cooks amazing food in the restaurant while Jo occasionally treats you to some songs on the guitar while you dine. A true gem of a place.

Earlier this year I stayed in Methven which was ok but after staying at Mt Hutt Lodge, I will never stay anywhere else. Away from the hustle & bustle, the view, the view, the view. Wake to the birds and not the cars. Room was spotless & the food was great. I'll be back. :)
