Check in was super friendly with Jo. Other than that would not stay there again. The rooms were dirty. Too loud to get any sleep and the bathroom door was broken so you had to lift it to slide it closed. Also no one locked the room so security was an issue during the day and night. Very overpriced for the facilities compared to other places I have stayed around the North Island.

New management is extremely helpful and welcoming. They invited me back the next day just for a tea and chat! Highly recommended, all the facilities are clean and well kept.

The Backpackers hostel is under new ownership and they are absolutely loving life. The staff have such bright and glowing personalities which creates such a welcoming vibe. It in an Incredible location with tons of great places to eat and drink. they have bikes and surfboards for hire, and pristine beaches with gorgeous views. There's also a friendly kitty who loves to be pet. All around great experience.

Great location. Great surf board hire deal, and I was allowed to shower afterwards despite having checked out earlier. The owner was very chilled. Good vibes for younger partying folk. Could be cleaner though
