Simply couldn’t stay away from this award winning restaurant. Too bad my companion couldn’t eat, and I could only finish 1 dish. Ordered lamb loin salad with cous cous in tzatziki sauce & pickled beetroot. Thumbs up.
The food was pretty alright, the price was reasonable (especially in a relatively remore place like this), and I think the view might've been great if I had come on a clear day. The place also looked quite sleek too.
The soup of the day (potatoes and something? I don't really recall) tasted a little funky for the price, albeit still palatable. I'd still recommend eating here especially if you're dropping by the Lake Matheson tracks.
I feel sorry for the beautiful and attentive floor staff. The food is too small and definitely needed sides as extras but they were not on the menu. The lamb came out with slices of beetroot that looked like it had come from a can only it was hard as rock. But in saying that the breakfast and lunch menu looked more up their alley perhaps. The 3 stars was purely for the lovely staff and the wine wasn't too bad either.
Not bad for a breakfast at a tourist place.
We came over for the view and walk, and fully expected prefab sandwiches or toasties, but the food here was quite good, tasty, plentiful and not overpriced.
The walks are worth it, even if it just the short ones to the lake .
Nice to sit out side , drink your latte, and drink in the view
Beautiful soup of the day for a rainy day in New Zealand but the coffee was awful :(
Come for the view if you must, but don't bother with the food or coffee. Tried the goat 'curry' and 'spicy' wedges, neither of which were even slightly spicy. The curry was more of a watery flavourless soup, really disappointing, especially as the goat itself was well cooked. The Latte was equally poor obviously made by someone who has no real clue how to make a good coffee. Service was just ok, really can't recommend eating here. The view is great though.
Very nice cafe, delicious food and superb view. You need to go there in the morning after seeing morning sunlight at JettyView. Have a good breakfast and coffee there is a must to do :)
Blustery day but warm welcome in this Kiwi cafe. Had cake and latte. Nut Custer amazing, asked for recipe. Lovely people really liked cafe.
Nice and warm with good food and coffee. Nice views. fuel available
Nice place to have a cup of coffee with Lake Matheson just beside. And, to have a short walk to the track with ur coffee takeaway too.
Great environment. There's some toys provided for your kids to play , if u bring ur kids of cos.
Friendly people and pretty good coffee without being super overpriced. A good place to warmup and dry out while enjoying the view
Great setting. Nice cafe. But one staff's behaviour is enough to ruin it all, including our holiday. We politely waited and asked this woman staff to give us a table. We were given one table by her and we sat there. Then we saw other customers walking in from the car park and taking any table they wish. Also, we noticed an elderly couple behind us sitting inside whose view we were blocking and they were straining to see. So we decided to take one of the nearby unoccupied tables. As we were sitting there, this waitress comes to us and says "Can you move back to the other table I alloted you. Let's go by organization please." Didnt understand what was the "organization" but explained to her we had no problem and only changed table when we found we were obstructing the view. But she insisted we change the table back. So we go back. And then we see another couple walking in from car park and sitting in the same table we were move out from. And this waitress colleague, a guy, came to attend to them immediately. So when I questioned her about where's the organization she went on a rant about se technical details on how each of the waitress manage a group of tables and all that. All this is none of my concern as a customer really. All I see is there's no "organization" and customers just walk in and take a table they want. It's not right that for someone like us who waited to get a table are asked to move out of a free table like that. The management should look into training such staff that in such a customer centric business it is not important to be so right on technical details and explain such things to the customer saying they are right. It just ruins the experience for the customer and leads to loss of business. In a situation like that where a customer like me feels unjustly treated, a simple sorry and what can I do to make things better will go a long way than technical explanations!
Lovely setting with quality food at reasonable prices not quite living up to the expectation promised. I do however, have an empty plate. I'd stop in again and try something else on the menu.
