  Reliable cup of coffee. Good food. Will always make you something if the cabinets are low. Good toilet stop before the Haast Pass

  AVOID. bad food, bad attitude! go to cafe up the road, less than 5 mins away!!! i had the soup which was tasteless and basically hot water with overcooked veg in. i took it back as i had paid a whopping $9 for it, and explained, i didn't want to be rude but it was so bland i couldn't eat it. she said they didn't season the soup (?!) and that noone else has complained about it (at the time i thought to myself that cannot be true, came on here and proved it). i asked if i could swap it for the chips, which was $4.50 so i was willing to lose the other $4.50 and the owner was so rude and kept telling me if i want chips i have to pay another $4.50!! if you go here, forget about customer service! money grabbing owner who doesn't care about good food or the customers.
  
  edit: response to owner: you stole $9 from me, you're lucky i didn't take $9 worth of drink and snacks. i was very nice to you and said i didn't want to be rude but you caused a scene. and i didn't blackmail you - i was telling you what was going to happen as a result of your bad customer service :) i can see from other bad reviews on here that you cannot take criticism and won't change your attitude, so the bad reviews are only going to add up.

  A good place for lunch break. The place is nicely decorated and it has plenty of outdoor seats. The ice cream is okay.

  Last year today I had lunch here on way from Queenstown to Franz Josef glacier. Ine of my best and beautiful road trips. Nice place to have a lunch break in this cafe with a scenic view.

  We were there last September. Such a warm, cosy place, the staff was very friendly, the owner came by to talk to us and asked where we were from. Coffee was good.

  Ordered Fish & Chips - Only one piece of fish left (lunch time) Fish was cool and chip were actually cold. Asked for hot food.. was told that is all they had. Charged 0.20 cents per small packet of ketchup. Charged 0.20 cents for a spoon. Soup was tasteless. Charged $5.60 for a 12 oz. bottle of Diet Coke. Definitely was a terrible stop for lunch.
