We stopped in to Luciano’s for a coffee refill because I had come for brunch here some years previous and remembered the espresso to be some of the best I’d had in Christchurch.

Late in the afternoon, the establishment still had a fair few customers, and a decent selection of cabinet treats still available. I had my first coffee, a long macciato, accompanied with a modest slice of banana bread. The macciato was excellent as I’d remembered, though I might have wished for it to be hotter, and I was soon ordering a second espresso. The banana bread was sweet and moist, went down well with butter. Its texture would have been improved if it had been toasted rather than microwaved. We also had a caramel slice which was perfectly delish, along with a hot chocolate, moccacino, and a chocolate milk shake. The shake was more powdery than creamy, but the other hot drinks were nice.

Always interesting being in Lucianos as it sits next to a lighting depot and struggles to feel like it has an identity of its own in ambience, but the good fare gives reason enough to return.

Went there for a coffee, they had run out of coffee (decaf). An Espresso bar that clearly hasn't got a clue what it's purpose is, i.e to keep customers happy by serving the coffee they like. Here's a tip, don't annoy your customers, if you run out of something, go to the supermarket and buy whatever it is you've run out of, ( and yes there is one good brand of supermakret decaf). Better still, don't run out of coffee!

Luciano is the Christchurch coffee institution with the owner Luciano one of the best barista not only in Christchurch but in Southern Hemisphere. So many times New Zealand Barista of the year and with his great personality the Cafe is always hit, Saturday and Sunday breakfast and brunch always full house. I always enjoy my piccolo at Luciano.

Awesome place with very nice and cozy atmosphere. The staff is very friendly. The coffee is excellent. We had breakfast for a few days there and it was outstanding. Highly recommended.

Best coffee I've had in a long time. Quick service despite the place being quite busy. I went in expecting an average coffee but got a really good one. Your barista knows what they're doing. Really good job! :)

Luciano's is well known as one of the best cafe's in Christchurch. Excellent coffee (Luciano himself is often making the coffee) and for a coffee house they have a surprisingly good menu, with a wide range and generous servings.

Expect it to be busy during the usual peak times, getting a good seat and parking can be a little difficult. They are well staffed though, so service is usually very fast.
