I'm not sure what the story was with the reviews below but it appears that the management has changed and all that I can say is that from my experience, the new manager, Steve, was a joy to deal with. He was super nice and accommodating - even when I asked for an early check in and then forgot some paperwork in the room after checkout. He followed it up and offered to hold or scan the docs for me - very kind. The room itself is gorgeous, the views are breathtaking and the bed is super comfy. The stargazing skylight is a neat feature but we couldn't see any stars the night we were there. There was even Netflix if you wanted to stay in bed and watch TV - although why would you with that lake sitting outside the doorstep? We would stay here again in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone.

Feel sorry to see so many unfair comments and ratings left by my people. We still have a lot to learn. :(

I've stayed here in last November. Don't care about those malicious comments. Lakeview Tekapo is really nice and comfortable apartment. It may be the best place to stay near the Lake Tekapo.

Just stayed at Lakeview Tekapo and it was the best holiday we've ever had. The view was superb and we had a very comfortable room. No Reception, but checking-in was a breeze! Thanks - would highly recommend

I've been to Lake Tekapo and luckily I didn't have to stay in this disgusting place. Based on the fact reported about how they treated their guests, I highly suggest you mark this place as one you will never go. Bottom line as a hotel, guest deserves the help to be accommodated. Although guest might have wrongly taken it for granted that they could fit 3 of them into a 2 people studio, they don't deserve to be treated the way reported in the news. I am a Chinese too that lives in Australia long enough to have been to a lot of places around here and New Zealand as well, and NEVER have I ever experienced or been able to imagined that any accommodation service providers could have done something as disgraceful as this.

First of all, as common sense, in a lot of hotels or motels, we can always pay extra to accommodate additional guest, so if policy in this particular place is THAT STRICT, have you put any noticeable WARNING on the hotel website AS WELL AS all of the other 3rd party booking agents' websites AT ALL, stating that it is BY LAW that amount of guests is restricted? I checked your website and I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!

Secondly, when you explained everything to the guest, and understood that your guest came in as a family which, again, is common sense that they surely would not want to be separated, have you ever, tried to offer them any help to come up with better solution, rather than driving your guest out of your property with so many rude and mean words?

Of course it could have been much better if the guest herself had tried to talk to hotel just to confirm before going ahead with booking (she probably wouldn't have gone ahead with the booking as she might have already been able to sense the rudeness over the phone), but as a person who specializes in customer service myself, from no ground at all it would make the manner that this hotel had treated the guest with as reasonable or acceptable!!!

To be one of those lucky accommodation service providers in a beautiful and CIVILIZED place like Lake Tekapo, this hotel should be ashamed of what they have done!!!!!

I am writing based on the recent news and the responses of the owner. I couldn't believe this happened, in the Christmas season, which is supposed to be a season of kindness, grace, and good wills. I believe that Miss Wen was not 100% right when checking in. But the owner shows zero graciousness, and is very mean.

The way the female host treated the Chinese girl and her aged parents are unacceptable! The photos of the studio online show prospective visitors that the lounge is big enough to accommodate an additional bed if sleeping in the sofa is not an option. Aggressively kicking visitors out after accepting full payment is WRONG. In the hospitality industry rather than trying to help, she ruined people's holiday. I will never book this hotel!
