This restaurant convicted of cheating the New Zealand worker, people and taxpayers. Scum. Three Auckland restaurants have been ordered to pay nearly $200,000 for not providing minimum wage or holiday pay to 132 mostly migrant student employees.

The three restaurants - Gengy's Mongolian BBQ Buffet, Kushi Takeaways and Kushi Restaurant - would be placed on the "stand down list", preventing them from sponsoring new visas to recruit migrant labour for 12, 18, and 24 months respectively, according to a statement from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.

Meh. Contrary to all the glowing reviews we found the food average-tasting and the rice crispie coated chicken kara age just odd. To be fair we did arrive towards the end of service which might help explain the tables with piles of dirty dishes heaped on them next to us, yuck. Still, the service was good and the prices also good. Probably the best you can hope for in the middle of the city.

We had the Salmon and a Teriyaki Chicken Bento box. The service was awesome, we had a private booth with fast polite service. The food was a level above any Japanese I have had before. Well prepared, beautiful flavours.

Lovely atmosphere, with live drums late Thursdays. The meal portions are filling, with excellent flavour, and served piping hot so you can eat at a sedate pace. Their Sake selection in quite reasonable, and well worth the price. I highly recommend this restaurant as a place to eat with friends.

Better than average Japanese in Auckland. Teriyaki chicken here is amazing. Only down side is you'll be paying a high price for a filled tummy.

The quality of food is excellent with a very reasonable price, perhaps even under priced a tad. The staff are very friendly to help with anything you might need. The kitchen is partially open, with the teppan (hotplate) free for you to see when sitting at the bar, where you can watch the expertise of the chef with his utensils flipping and frying meats and other foods- no need to go to an overpriced teppanyaki restaurant! The restaurant is a bit dark but is lit enough to see. The whole restaurant is very clean and overall one of the best restaurants I've been to.

This is a very handy lunch option in the central city; great bento lunch menu and specials are reasonable. The look & feel is quirky - definitely one to try for a working lunch

Fantastic food, service was great and they really looked after us on a busy night. They were great with our kids and the chef even threw some oil on the grill to light a huge flame for my son who was so impressed. In fact so was I! The presentation of the food was also excellent.
