What an incredible place to stay. Very cheap for such awesome facilities. We were just about the only people here. Host is funny and welcoming.
$12.5 pp for unpowered site. Can use 5 minutes hot shower. It's enough, because the water is hot, and have strong press. We saw cow, sheep, chicken in the morning.
After reading several excellent reviews about this place I just had to go and stay there. We only stayed for one night and we will definitely be coming back! We were told to set up camp where ever we liked. We picked a spot tucked under some of the many trees and then had a good look around.
The toilets were spotless and smelt clean. The kitchen was small but very tidy and the showers too looked clean, although we did not use them. You push a button outside on the wall to start a 5-minute timer.
A short (and well signed) walk along a track takes you down to the river which would be great on a hot summers day for all of the family to enjoy. There are lots of animals around for the kids to look at. Alpacas (or llamas if I'm incorrect!) turkeys, rabbits, and goats (who were friendly enough to let us pet them).
There are fire barrels throughout the grounds and you can purchase a barrow load of wood for $5 and also a couple of playgrounds which my daughter loved.
Very friendly upon arrival and they did appear to have EFTPOS - I am sure I read on one review that they didn't!
I can't wait to stay here again and for hopefully a bit longer!
I have stayed at the Herbert forest camp ground 2 times now last being Jan 2017 Both have been very pleasurable, all facilities are great including cooking facilities, a shared fridge, hot showers with good pressure and for a 5 dollars fee you can get a barrow load of firewood to have your own fire in the drums they provide. River access and beautiful trees and scenery. Very close to Herbert forest with a bunch of cool walks including a cave and waterfalls.
Highly recommend.
Stunning camp ground and very helpful owner and his son
