Wonderful setting, very relaxing and awesome to see someone has thought outside of the square and created a beautiful hideaway with great energy saving principles.

If i could rate Kiwi Greenie more then 5 stars i would. What an amazing place for a bit of R&R, surrounded by nature and breathtaking views. The house was so comfortable and warm, so quiet and relaxing. With interior and exterior design that inspires, we loved how eco friendly it all is. Would love the chance to return to this location. Absolute bliss.

We loved our stay in Little Greenie. It inspired us to look toward a sustainable build in the future. The house was so warm in winter, had beautiful views to wake up to and the outside bath was such a treat. We'd love to go back.

One of the best places that I have stayed in a very long time. Arrived and drove up the hill to our own hidden house atop the hill.

Lawrence then arrived, welcomed us and explained about the house and surrounds - super friendly.

We then sat and watched the sun set, cooked dinner and then enjoyed the amazing nights sky from the external tub - given the little to no light pollution the sky was amazing!

Definitely a place to come and stay for a week to be disconnected from the world, no TV! House had all the required mod cons and a fully stocked kitchen to enable us to cook up a storm.

Will be back next time I am in NZ! Thanks for an amazing time guys! Well worth the visit.

We stayed at the Little Greenie for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. The house is lovely and private, as well as fascinating with it's eco-friendly set up. The outdoor bath is divine - be sure to take a bottle of bubbles! There are some beautiful walks in the area and Lawrence (the owner) is an excellent and helpful host. We would definitely stay here again.

I pre-paid $270 for two nights stay (16-17th November) in the house truck. After the earthquake struck on the 14th November, I immediately messaged Kylie and Lawrence saying that it was looking unlikely that we would be able to make our booking, as our ferry had been due to sail on the 15th November. When it was then cancelled, we let them know immediately and did everything we could to get booked on another sailing.

Unlike all our other accommodation hosts on the South Island who were extremely understanding due to the circumstances (and who all issued us with full and immediate refunds) Kylie and Lawrence insisted that we had chosen not to come. Demanding that we book flights straight to Takaka in order to honour our booking at the Goldenbay Hideaway was simply not an option - not only were they hugely expensive last minute, but all onward routes to the Kaikoura/Christchurch area were severely impacts at that time, we would have had no means of continuing our travel plans.

I was honestly extremely shocked by their cold and unsympathetic response. I understand the need for strict cancellation policies with a small business, but their refusal to refund even part of what was quite a considerable sum seems very indicative of the kind of people running this business.

    Stay away!

Views of the bay are unbeatable. Not a place for those after the creature comforts. Our compost toilet was nearly overflowing so we had to go to the toilet elsewhere. Their commitment to conservation and recycling is to be admired.

Wow!! Perfection on so many levels. 🌅🌌

Don't wait, if you see an opening then book as this place fills up fast.

My partner and I have stayed at Golden Bay Hideaway three times. Each time in one of the different accommodation options.

First the amazing House Truck - perfect cosy retreat for a romantic weekend. The outdoor
bath under the stars in complete privacy. Too relaxing.

Then years later Little Greenie and Kiwi Greenie - both feel luxuriously completed with so much attention to detail that we kept being surprised. Waking up to a perfect temperature and humidity levels is such a refreshing feeling. Only once you've experienced it can one understand how poorly most homes are insulated.

And the views from each home are breathtaking. Watching the tides and the sunsets. Pour a beverage and enjoy your time! We certainly did.

Thanks Lawrence and team for building your dream so we can come and stay 😊

House truck stay exceeded our expectations. A beautifully crafted interior, warm, cosy and full of charm. It rained most of the weekend and we didn't mind a bit - we had everything we needed. The outdoor bath is lush! A must stay for a romantic weekend.
