Well worth a 40 minute stop. Start with the excellent 20-minute documentary and then browse the galleries and the historic train. Little kids with an interest in trains will love this museum. Adults will find it interesting. Older kids may be a bit bored by the old-fashioned presentation of history and technology.

Highly recommended to stop in and visit $6 an adult, the train is impressive. Cold water is for sale and they have a shop with all things relating to trains. Staff are fantastic, thanks to the volunteers who run this place. You rock

Very interesting museum. Takes you back to a different era and really brings home the importance and challenges of the folks who worked and kept these Fell Engines going over the range. Once you drive from Featherston to Wellington, you will get a new sense of awe for the machines and crews that traversed the range on the rail line.
