This Christchurch Bed and Breakfast is welcoming with great garden design and courtyard space concept. The building are heritage looking with great community feel. Will come book again.
great location with many good cafe and eatery around.
Was better than I though. Just nice and homely. Will come back again.
Sydenham Heritage Street that very popular part of City South. City, Cafe and lively Colombo Mall just close by. Love the architecture and the area of this Christchurch B&B.
We were lucky to find such a great BnB in Christchurch. Warm, friendly hosts with great advice on things to do in and around Christchurch.
We have a quick stop in Christchurch during our South island visit. The Designer Cottage stood out during our serch. We loved the balance of heritage and local community experience. We travel heaps, so we think Designer Cottage B&B offers more than just a normal B&B comfortable stay. Its architecture and unique style make it extremely special. Thank you again for our lovely stay.
Christchurch accommodation. Great Heritage place that close to Colombo street with cafes and amenities. Christchurch most unique cottage experience. We are loving it.
Wow, what a find of a place. Chet was very friendly and welcoming when we arrived for our three night stay. When he showed us the cottage, he pointed out that it was a communal kitchen and help ourselves as required. In the breakfast room out in the garden, Chet sat us down with a local map and advised us the best and worst places to eat and how to get there. He gave one guest his own Metro card to help him out with local transport.
The next morning we went to breakfast expecting a help yourself style breakfast, Chet was there and served up the cereals, toast, croissants, tea, coffee etc.
Chet was good enough to show us round the cottage adjacent to the one we were staying which is meant for a family. As both properties are over 100 years old, he has kept the cottages as authentic as possible. Wow loved the older style furniture, boiler in the additional cottage. But for me seeing the copper WC was really quite cool.
Considering the age of the main cottage, our room with the en suite felt very cosy. It had the mod cons including an electric blanket, SMART TV, electronic door lock.
Housekeeping was done everyday including renewing the towels etc.
To us, it has history, style and character behind it, and a host that cares about the guests and his business that often lacks in the concrete boxes for rooms in modern hotels.
Chet is a great host, we have already recommended to others that this is the place to stay when in Christchurch.
Christchurch best Bed and Breakfast offer a unique NZ experience. We had a great time during our short stay. This place is not suitable for children, so it is peaceful and relaxing. Will come again.
Stayed here with friends this month (January 2016). The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The hosts, Chet and Steve, are really what make this place great. Always friendly and accommodating, gave us maps and recommended places to visit and were happy to talk about the city. Given their hospitality, I would highly recommend staying here.
