I have had good quality visits to this restaurant and has been very relaxing and pleasant.however I have had one visit where I could not drink the coffee because it just did not taste right ,there also may have been some sort of unpleasant odor in the room
On successful visits to cullens it was nice and enjoyable

Dined tonight with a reasonably large group (14) for a combined birthday celebration. Overall a very pleasant experience and a great evening out. The food was delicious and well prepared, with a good selection of dishes and well matched flavours within each dish.

While the service was friendly and efficient on the whole, it was just one waitress which wasn't really sufficient for such a sized party. In particular it took over 10 minutes (closer to 15) for all the mains to be delivered to the table, which was pretty poor, and the final dish was several minutes wait after all the other dishes had been served. A couple of bus-boys or serving assistants wouldn't go amiss (or even just the other wait staff lending a hand!).

I have eaten here a couple of times a year for the last 5 years and never been disappointed. Did a degustation dinner once and that was marvellous. The servings are not large, but delicate and well presented, and quite imaginative (especially for Hamilton). Try to avoid busy times when the service is stretched, but never poor. They now do a quick lunch meant for working people which is cheap, fast, and not as exciting than their a la carte, but better value.

I've been going to Cullen's Restaurant & Bar for the last ten years, it's a place where I know I will always get the best quality food, wine, service and atmosphere - whether I'm going with friends for a few drinks and lunch, or dinner with the family. Cullen's is one of those hidden gems that all the locals know about. It's one of Hamilton's longest standing restaurants and its reputation exceeds itself. Seared tuna and tempura veg is an absolute favourite of mine. The wine list is very comprehensive and availability by the glass is extensive as well. Their staff are very professional and knowledgeable on the wines and menu. I can easily say this is one of my favourite restaurants in New Zealand.
