Home away from home! Tony is by far the best host we've met in our 2 months travels through NZ, with interesting insights and stories about NZ's culture, history, economy and politics. We'll never forget our time at the buscot station and wish one day we'll come back

We had a lovely stay in Buscot Station. Tony was a great host. The beds were comfortable and warm. A very unique and memorable backpacking experience!

I just stumbled across this place.
Really glad I did. I was lucky to be the only guest as it was not summer but they were fully booked 2 days later.
Very homely feel with comfy beds, log fire and a big kitchen to cook your food.
No wifi but it's in the middle of nowhere so its to be expected.
I forget the owners name but super friendly and knowledgeable about everything you would want to know about NZ. He has also traveled to more places than I think anyone I have met. Really nice chap.
10 bed dorm and private rooms available at very reasonable prices.

We stayed one night with Tony in lovely house. The dorm room is in a converted workers room, all single beds! No bunks! :) it is very clean and cosy. Tony takes care to show you around and make sure you know how everything works. He is also a very interesting person and has a huge knowledge of the area, and farming and conservation practices. Worth a visit if you're in the area! Prices are $25 for a dorm bed. And he also sells free range eggs :D

It is essentially a farm house transformed into a backpackers. They have two non ensuite and one ensuite private room for 27,50NZD with BBH card per person.

Additionally there is a 10 bed dorm available for 22NZD per person with comfy beds and ensuite in the side house.

The kitchen and living room are pretty personal and the owner lives in the house too I guess.

People working there have been friendly but a bit wired. The only downside was that on the upper levels (dorm and two of three private rooms) it has been very warm even with all windows open.

Probably the best place to stay in this area! Great for visits to Mt. Cook National Park, Te Kapo etc. Homely and cosy athmosphere and a great place to meet other travelers! Highly recommended!

An amazing find. Everywhere was booked out, it was getting late, and me and my girlfriend just needed somewhere to crash. Then we found this. For a cheap price ($60 for a 'double' room which was actually a huge, well furnished bedroom) we got to stay in a building that resembled a manor more than a hostel. The place is full of fancy furniture, interesting trinkets from the owner's many travels, and it's all in the middle of beautiful farmland. It's a small hostel, so there were only a few others staying there, but the owner was friendly and happy to talk to us and tell us about the place. We had an incredibly comfortable stay and would have happily stayed several more nights, but unfortunately this was at the end of our trip!
    Highly recommended to anyone.
