Don't get me wrong the steak was great, as was the service, but the cauliflower in cheese sauce was brown and overcooked and the duck fat potatoes were dry . Must try harder ; )

This was my second visit to Bloody Mary's. This time I had the Rib Eye with mashed potatoes, broccolini and peppercorn gravy. The steak was done just right and full of flavour. Mixed with the gravy and mashed potatoes - very enjoyable.
For dessert I had the Knickerbocker glory. The combination of ice cream and meringue was just right. Creamy with a little bit of crunch.
The waiter was very attentive.
A very enjoyable evening, I will be booking here again if I get the chance. Well done.

The service at this place is definately as explained upscale. The food and service were both out of this world and the barman knowledge of cocktails is awesome. He can do good different variations of the menu drinks aswell. Will definately

Disappointing. It all started from an online reservation system that didn't work. The webpage says "confirmed" but provided no email or ref #. We planned our day around this time. Why do you have this feature that doesn't work? If you do plan on going, call them and get a #.

The main issue was the typical "give the guy's date/wife the nasty cut of beef. She won't know the difference" and the floor manager pumps his tyres on how low his/her food waste numbers are for the night. I guess for some It's all about money folks. So my steak was a cold medium but overall good. My partner's, unfortunately, was a cold medium rare and the chewiest steak i've had in years. I even showed the waiter how you couldn't cut it with a steak knife. For real. We managed to cut only 1-2 inches out of it before giving up.

Take the steak-gate out of the equation and it wasn't a bad meal. It's just when i drop $200- $300 on dinner, i expect perfection. This was amateur hour at the steak selection farm. And that is what you are paying for, a good cut. Grilling a steak is not exactly "complicated". So no, it's not always about the money. We are not kiwis but we live here. Won't be going back.

Side note: service staff was generally good. Thanks for putting on a brave face, not your fault.

We have been going to Bloody Marys for over a year now. The breakfast buffet is hands down the best you will find in Christchurch. The array and quality of the food is well worth the price.

The dinner menu there is also good, the salmon is great but steak is where they truly shine.

I had an expired voucher, I've been there many times, the lady said she couldn't do anything for me but she would talk to her general manager to see what could be done, the outcome was favorable, when I got there the next day she had reserved me a table beside the window for breakfast, this is by far the best service iv received and would like to commend the lady who was on reception and thank the general manager for his assistance, would recommend this restaurant for their exceptional service they give

We had a great evening here. There are 2 different seating areas with somewhat separated menus. We landed in the section for the "more outdoorsie" folk. The place is still primarily aimed at a dinner party not so much a backpacker hangout.

Food was tasty, the chicken burger I had was excellent. Prices on the higher end of average range (for NZ).

Staff was exceptionally friendly and when we asked to have the AC turned down, since it was quite chill, they promptly did so :-)

Portions where somewhat small which is of course subjective and remains the only downside for the evening. Recommendation!!

Loved the food. Lamb was so juicy and melted in your mouth. The dessert was just as amazing. Not what I expected from a steakhouse. And the decor is modern. Service was brilliant. Fast efficient and really friendly. Will be going back.

Great Steak, excellent drinks selection, lots and lots of peas, the service could have been better.
I went with 2 guests and we enjoyed the steak very much.
My carrots and peas side dish came with 3 slices of carrot and what seemed like 500g of peas. I like peas but not that much.
The serving staff could have been more attentive, we had to wait quite a while to get a drink, and no one checked to see if our meals were OK or if we needed more wine or water.
But the steak was really good.
