We came across this restaurant looking for something to end a conference. Bin44 delivered in droves from the excellent beer and wine menu to interesting mains. The Biramisu was excellent and we only chose it because it was recommended to go with the Pinot that we were drinking - no disappointments here.
Four of us went there for dinner on Friday 20th October. Overall it was a generally poor experience.
It was 15 minutes after we were seated that we were finally given food menus and it wasn't for another ten minutes that a drinks menu was taken. So were sitting there for 25 minutes with just table water.
There was no cohesion of the waitstaff. Two of us ordered a drink, the other two ordered a bottle of wine to share, we asked to keep the two unused wine glasses just in case and this was fine, shortly after another member of staff removed these without asking as. At one point towards the end of the night staff were messing around with a balloon behind the counter and it didn't look very professional.
For the four of us we ordered the Hummus + Flatbread, Lager Battered Vegetables with Aioli, Mixed Vegetables platter. The hummus and vegetables were good. The flatbread was just a tortilla cut up into smaller pieces, and there was a huge amount of aioli and hummus compared to the things to dip them into.
For the mains I ordered the Pan Roasted Market Fish and this was really good, my partner ordered the IPA Poached Akaroa Salmon and said it was burnt and overcooked. The other two members of the party ordered the Shark + Potato Vindaloo, which was OK, and the Roasted Free Range Chicken Thigh Brined in APA, which was actually like a salad even though the menu doesn't hint at this at all
We did not try any of the desserts.
Overall the level of service wasn't the best and the food could have been better. We probably wouldn't be returning.
Beautiful location, shame about the food. My girlfriend and I dined here last night were both extremely disappointed by the food to say the least. We both ordered pizza, which appeared to be store bought and have premade bases, at 21 dollars a pop this just isn't good enough. The chips at 9 dollars also tasted like store bought oven chips, hard as hell. The only saving grace to this miserable experience, were the pleasent waiting staff. Do yourself a favour and go to any of the other nearby restaurants, as this place is really sub par!
Great service. Good selection of beers. Superb company too.
Great place. The staff is very friendly and the food and beers taste awesome. The portion sizes could be a tad bigger.
Great selection of craft beers. Cool location to sit outside and relax.
This place is a good sports bar, but I don't recommend the food, especially the pizza. The service is good as long as you go to the bar and get your own drinks. Don't rely on the wait staff for anything.
Loved it. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service. Will be back
It's been a stable venue of my time in Wellington for as long as I can remember. This incarnation is a good one, excellent beer choice, friendly staff and really good food. Enjoy the summer Sears outside if you can get one :)
Lovely restaurant and bar with warm atmosphere. Has TV showing sports. Nice selection of craft beer.
This place has a huge ever changing range of drinks to choose from with a great atmosphere and an amazing harbour view
Enjoyed a decent burger at Bin44. Good for lunch on a sunny day. Located on the wharf. They offered a beer menu but many were unfortunately out of stock.
Poor service. Food was underwhelming. Starters were luke warm. $28 steak was flavourless soaked in Hollendaise sauce and came with a slab a broccoli instead of asparagus as the menu said. Waiter had his pants riding far too low. Considering there are so many great places to eat nearby I am amazed this place has survived.
Not bad Bacon and eggs, but poor service, especially seated outside. My latte was about 1/3 foam - That's a cappucino guys. Surly waiter outside and a bit overpriced.
This place has a lovely setting and a good looking menu for food and beer. Unfortunately I was not able to try it, it took almost 10 minutes to be seated and then another 5 minutes to get menus. We then waited another 10 minutes for service but instead left (it was not at a busy time).
