Excellent welcome, and very friendly hosts. We enjoyed our stay, but also received good advice on dining out and other local information. Breakfast was superb. Although we could only stay one night on our journey we would readily have stayed longer if time had allowed.

Das Awatuna Homestead ist ein prima B&B im Landhaus-Stil mit sehr liebevollen und freundlichen Gastgebern. Wir hatten wirklich das Gefühl, wie zu Hause zu sein. Auf dem kleinen Bauernhof werden unter anderem ein paar Schafe gehütet. Wirklich idyllisch und urig. Vor den beiden Hunden muss man wirklich keine Angst haben. Diese bellen zur Begrüßung und ansonsten haben sie eher Angst vor sich selbst. Das Zimmer war sauber, ordentlich und recht geräumig. Hervorheben möchte ich das Frühstück. Es war wirklich sehr lecker. Besonders das frischgebackene Bananenbrot. Das WLAN ist inkludiert und ok. Das Landhaus liegt sehr ruhig direkt neben dem Highway 6, einige Kilometer außerhalb von Hokitika. Es fährt ein- bzw. zweimal am Tag ein Cargo-Zug am Landhaus vorbei. Davon haben wir aber ehrlich gesagt gar nichts mitbekommen und empfanden es somit nicht als Störung. Zusammenfassend können wir jedem die Unterkunft empfehlen, der in der Nähe von Hokitika gehoben nächtigen möchte.

Really loved this place. Lovely couple who owned it were really helpful and offer up advice of where to eat or places of interest in the area. Lovely accommodations. Peaceful and quiet. Loved the two dogs who met us at the entrance. 5 stars!
