Ascot Park Raceway is a multi code track for Gallops, Harness and Greyhounds. The tracks are excellent with recent work on the Gallops track to assist with drainage. The Greyhound track is a large sweeping horseshoe track which is great for punters. Some of the facilities are very dated but everything works. Entry is normally free apart from the Christmas at the Races which is extremely popular and needs to booked in advance.

Over the years, I have stayed here, had functions here, Christmas family dinners and more. A Southland Icon, the Ascot Hotel has been consistent with excellence on all levels, since my childhood. Looking forward to a family Christmas here again this year (You need to book in advance as it sells out!) and more functions now that I'm back home.

Go here for work regularly. Quite a cosy hotel for its size. It's bar/restaurant is very inviting with its warm fire.
Very friendly staff. Good selection of food and drinks.
Only downside is its interior is aging.. but their renovations so far have been done well.
Gym is small. But does the job. Pool sauna and spa are quite nice too. Again looking tired in places. But are still great to use.

This is probably the best hotel in Invercargill. The rooms are really great, and so is the pool, and sauna.

Neat and tidy rooms and a well looked after garden with we happily strolled around. Great and helpful staff who did not hesitate to help us with our itinerary. An amazing place for families.
