The staff are great and they try their best to look after their customers. And while most of the bathrooms have been done up you can't help the old exterior which lets the wind in. Also if you knows there is going to be a southerly don't stay in the upper floors the wind and rain can batter the building.

Not a regular but have stayed here 12-15 nights over the last 10 years. This will be my last stay😒. I write this review at 4 am unable to sleep due to the high winds screeching in past the window seals due to damaged handles.
Last time it was a band practicing past 12 am for a gig the following day, right below me (a $20 discount barely cut it).
This joint is getting old and while some investment has been made in the bigger stuff ,eg new elevators. It’s the stuff that lets you do what “most” people utilise hotels in small towns want to do. Sleep😴. The cleaning staff should check handles and things like this as part of the room inspection. Enough said.

Looks a little bit tired and dated from the outside. Great location as it is in the centre of town and amenable to the local shops and bars. My room looked a little dated but was clean and comfortable. The TV was very small and fixed to the wall. The bed was very soft - a little to soft for me but led to a very comfortable sleep. The lifts are old, dated and a bit worse for wear but they are in the process of updating them. The bathroom in my room looked recently refurbished so hopefully this will extend to the room and the outside of the building.

The Kelvin hotel had been a part of Invercargill for many years. Very elegant dining and a great place to stay if not.from Invercargill convenient to the CBU right in the city center

Clean and comfortable rooms, the restaurant has great food with a wide selection. The staff was very helpful. The elevators are old and kind of creepy.
