Delicious Mexican food, friendly staff, very nice atmosphere. Not cheap but definitely worth the price. You can get discounts if you're staying at some of the hotels/motels around. And they also do room service at the hotel. That's definitely a bonus!

Great TexMex food. Super hot wings (we asked for extra hot) that punished us. Loved the Coconut Margaritas. Would go back.

A spare of the moment decision had us walking through the door of Amigos, What a pleasant surprise Amigos have definitely upped there game. The place was humming, The service was the best we have experienced in Wanaka for a long time. Food yummy and those berry margaritas are the bomb. Thank you from Wanaka locals Sonya and Sean

Yummy Mexican food! We had a very sweet waitress and got the wings (yum) nachos (big enough for a main!) and quesadilla. So much tasty food and great view - highly recommend!

This place is awesome. Great view and the pork belly with pineapple taco and the steak tacos were both incredible.
Our waitress Sye was deserves a 10/10 for her efforts and friendliness. Will definitely be back next time we travel to NZ.response / report this review -

Definitely won't be in a hurry to go back there. Worst experience ever. The food isn't exactly outstanding. I'll be definitely letting people back home not to bother. The waiters don't listen, you order a bottle of water and end up with beer and water. I told the waiter not to bring my children's drinks out until their meals were ready again he didn't listen, I had to remind the waiter about my drink, because he forgot about my drink. Meals definitely aren't worth the money they are charging. If you want good mexican go to Surfers.

Having only 2 nights in Wanaka we thought we would check out the local Mexican, it having good reviews.
Unfortunately our experience was far from great. Firstly I ordered a peach, pear and elderflower sparkling sangria.
What I got looked like white wine mixed with mint, Apple and orange. With confusion I got a waiters attention and asked if this was correct and he said it was they had just ran out of a few of the ingredients. So I was left with my disappointing cocktail that wasn't at all pleasant to drink.
For mains I ordered a vegetarian burrito with no beans. Confirming on arrival that my burrito didn't have beans I began to eat only to find that it was filled with beans. The waiter was at the table at the time and noticed and asked if it was a problem. Told the waiter I was very allergic and then told I would receive a new meal. In compensation while I waited I got given chips and guac.
No other compensation was given despite the situation instead I got to spend a day on my holiday Ill because of their mistake. Being in the industry myself I know how important it is to look after your customers and on this occasion I would now not return or recommend this restaurant.response / report this review -

SERIOUSLY good Mexican. Authentic style with innovative local produce options. I was wary cos the name looked like a chain but could not have been more wrong. Plus they REALLY know their tequila.Great service, great location.

My experience at this establishment was nothing less than astounding. The food, staff and atmosphere was incredible. I couldn't reccomend this place more if you want to come for a vegetarian meal or a drink in a fun, inviting atmosphere.
Thank you Amigos and your staff for giving my partner and I such a great dining experience.

Somewhat expensive for what you get. Prices are about 7 dollars for a single taco, which is kind of expensive for my books. The quality is pretty good but I don't feel it justifies the price. The margaritas are pretty solid and it's a good place to chill with friends.

One of the worst experiences dining out. There were options on the menu for meat & dairy free versions of the meals. When ordering the staff made us feel uncomfortable due to our food choices. As paying customers would expect to be catered to, however did not feel welcomed at all. Average food, poor service. Would not be back to dine at Amigos due to the service. Did enjoy the bean bags and beautiful sun out that day..
