Showcasing a sun terrace and views of the city, Thamel Grand Hotel is located in the Thamel neighborhood in Kathmandu. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant.
A terrace or patio are featured in certain rooms. All rooms are equipped with a private bathroom. Extras include slippers and a hairdryer. A flat-screen TV is featured.
There is a 24-hour front desk at the property.
The hotel also provides bike rental. The nearest airport is Tribhuvan Airport, 5 km from Thamel Grand Hotel .
Thamel is a great choice for travelers interested in shopping, food and hiking.
Bathroom (drain a little scummy and shower water gets everywhere but this is pretty normal in Nepal).
Super friendly staff, excellent breakfast at Black Olives Cafe next door, great view of Kathmandu from the rooftop. Comfortable beds. We didn't love Thamel, but this place is located a little away from the annoying streets where you are constantly approached by people trying to sell you stuff.
    - Showers were very unpredictable with regards to water temperature: sometimes nice and warm and some times freezing cold which was very unpleasant in winter - No desks in the rooms - Insufficient coathangers
Rooms were air conditioned - Cable TV with movies and sports channel - Hotel located very close to restaurants - Free breakfast every morning

After doing the Everest Base camp trek I really wanted a nice relaxing few days in Kathmandu, I was glad I picked Thamel grand hotel. The bed was nice and big and very comfortable, the plug sockets had adapters so I didn't need any hassle with using my own adapter. The shower was nice and hot! I was a little annoyed to find building work going on the floor below me, but it didn't really affect me that much as I would be out mist of the day and by the time I was back they had finished for the day.

This is a beautiful place for stay very close to the Kathmandu main market. You can walk out of the hotel into the market. Rooms are spacious, washrooms kept clean, help boys really very helpful! Complimentary breakfast has 6 varieties of choices and is stomach filling. 4 to 5 cars parking space is available opposite the hotel. Receptionists are very helpful. WiFi is good and can access in rooms. Lot of decent and reasonable eateries are at walkable distance. Overall deserves 4.5 rating.

Pros: relatively large and spacious rooms
Cons: Cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired, needs renovation badly, insects, old and moldy smell, no free breakfast

Good hotel in a very convenient location. Very close to a number of good restaurants in Thamel. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable enough, even though they were a bit hard and mattresses thin. Decent hot water from the shower too. Also the nearby Black Olives Cafe (where breakfast is served) is fantastic for food!
