It’s one of the must visit monastery nearby kathmandu. It’s just 40km away from kathmandu, it took us around 2 hrs to reach there by bike. It’s worth to ride 2 hours.one star off on my rating just because of off road condition to reach there. Recommend You to have very good mask and very good riding skill if you are riding there.

Buddhist pilgrimage sites which has recently been popular as a day hiking spot nearby Kathmandu valley. One can have breath taking views of the landscape on the way. At monastery one is not allowed to make loud noice or do any such things that effects other visitors. The place is so much peaceful and is an ideal place for relaxation, yoga and meditation. If you want more information regarding the monastery and the history about origin of this place then you can ask to the monks. They will be happy to share the information and show you around the place. For the photographer this place offers wide range of panoramic shots. Also thia place acts as a suitable place for bird watching tour and has been an escape out place to spend the weekends.

Nawa Buddha also known as Thrangu Tashi Yangtse monastery is situated on Kavre district of Nepal. It's one of the most beautiful and holy places that everyone must visit once. There you will get the opportunity to see the ancient Tibetan Lamas culture and arts. The workshiping place is so pure that if someone stays along the great Guru on main place you will feel that you are in heaven due to their spiritual feelings.

According to the old legend, 6000 years ago, prince (Mahasatwo/Ngingdui Tshenpo), at the top of the hill, looking the jungle, discovers a tigress lying near the rock. Very quickly, he realizes that the tigress was about to die due to hunger with her five little babies still sucking milk from her, survivals of the babies depend on their mother. Mahasatwo, decides to give his life to the tigress in a bust of love and compassion. So Prince Mahasatwo cuts his body to present his warm blood in the mouth of the mother tiger, and the taste of blood gives the appetite to the starving family. As the tigress accepts the sacrifice from prince she leaves only the bones. The bones of prince were brought back in the village and buried in the tomb which is actual stupa of Namo Buddha. Some about 3500 years later, the Gautam Buddha came in the village of Sange da Fyafulsa, He conducts 3 tour around the Stupa before he declared that he was the reincarnation of prince Mahasatwo. It was the moment that Gautam Buddha renamed this village which is henceforth the name of Namo Buddha which means Hommage to Buddha.

Since it was founded by V.V. Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche in 1978 the monastery has grown such that today it is home to more than 250 monks.

The Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Temple (photo at left) was officially opened on December 5, 2008. The Shree Mangal Dvip Branch School for young monks is also part of the monastery complex.

A religious and tourist destination, little away from the crowded city of Kathmandu valley. The scenic and natural beauty of this place is good enough to spend hoiday. One can get photos with beautiful view in background. In my opinion, it's a must visit place for nature and architecture lover.

The guesthouse near the monastery is a nice & simple place to spend quiet days in the surrounding of Buddhist monks. Breakfast and dinner is included and takes place in the monastery together with the monks: the food is simple.

Dont Plan to go on a holiday. Less than 10 picnic spots and more than 20 groups. Crowded. On off days calm and peaceful.
The last part of the road is not blacktopped and dusty.
Hike down to panauti from namobuddha in winter you will get to eat lot of oranges directly from the tree. :)

Amazing monastery! It is worth a four hour trek (or maybe a relaxing drive) to get to. The monastery literally sits in the clouds and is covered with ornate designs. It is a really neat experience to eat with the monks and observe their prayers. If you are in the area or up for an adventure, Namo Buddha should not be missed!

Great if you're here on a Buddhist pilgrimage, skip if you want scenery or a cultural site, or if going without a good guide. Timings to see the hall are limited so try to find out from your guide beforehand (can be a test of how good your guide is. I missed the visit cos my guide didn't even know the timings..). Getting there is long and tedious because of the roads. The place is serene and quiet because there is absolutely nothing there

We went visit the monastery and it was amazing. We assist to some group praying session and they serve us milk tea and cookie. We slept at the monastery guesthouse with dinner and breakfast include for 2500 NPR for 2 persons. The best room we had in all Nepal, everything is brand new. Worth the visit.

I had been there alone. I was lucky to spend 10 minutes alone in the huuuge ceremony hall watching everything carefully.
    Please do not take photographs.

Heavily spiritual. Don't sit on the door threshold talking while the monk is praying. It disturbs the prayers. Shrine demands great respect. It's where the Buddha rescued a tigress from starving. All life is sacred.
