One of the best ski resorts and guaranteed enough of fresh snow.
Røldal is great. Not the largest, but nice slopes. Very good off piste.
Great place to go powing!
Pros:
Good slopes. Newly installed 4-person ski lift. Lodge for buying hot food/snacks.
Cons:
The first 2-person lift is slow and outdated. If you park in the car park you have to take this to get to the top. Not a hassle.
Unfortunately they do not offer one vegetarian food option except of French fries. This is really not acceptable. Otherwise the area is great for skiing. But please change your menu!
Huge selection of trails and great snow. Some of the best skiing in Norway.
Despite the fact that we were reluctant to buy more than one day of skiing due to the weather reports the woman guaranteed that we could easily buy 3 days as the skicenter would reopen if they were ever forced to close for a day or two - she even tried to sell ud 5 days each. Now the center is closed for a fourth consecutive day despite the fact that the weather today has been brilliant - and we cannot get our money back or anything similar. Having to travel for 12 hours to get to Røldal the same woman's reassurences that we could come back later seem pretty indifferent and we seemingly have to accept having lost about 400 Euros due to this woman's indifference.
Furthermore, skicenters nearby haven't shut down temporarily despite similar conditions (about -2-2°C but lots of snow), so we are left rather puzzled that Røldal skicenter does not reopen before christmas. Very poor service and an incredibly disappointing twist to a highly anticipated holiday.
