Longest church in Holland with lots of history. Nice but not spectacular exterior but the interior is fantastic with loads of huge centuries old glassstained windows. The amount, size and quality is unique in the world. Must-see!

I live in Gouda but each time I pass this church I am reminded of it's beauty. That never grows old. Inside the church is simply decorated. It are the glass in lead windows that draw attention. They are mostly medieval and a true work in art. Try to come in the christmas season when the church is lighted from the inside for a few weeks which makes the windows stand out more.

The Sint-Janskerk of Gouda is constructed in 15th-16th Century, it was in the 1570s closed by Willem of Oranje because the Spanish plunders in there, in May 1940 during the German Invasion of The Netherlands and Belgium take the city of Gouda shelter for 1200 soldiers from Rotterdam.
