Located a stones throw away from the red light district. It's basic but in a location that allows easy access to a lot of things. Very close to the train station. We went mid week and virtually had the bar to ourselves all the time. I loved the bar, lots of seating, pool tables, TVs and depending on the member of staff on duty usually plays rock music. Unfortunately our showed in the room didn't work but there was one down the hall so we didn't bother complaining. This is very much like a hostel so don't book expecting luxury.. Personally I loved it.

The only positive in this place is that it is in the city center. However the price/ quality is bad. The room had five beds but only a small window. The worse is that when the window is opened. An unbearable smell comes in

AVOID unless you like POOR customer service and BEDBUGS. The staff were rude and unhelpful (particularly the old dutch guy with swept back hair). Upon returning one night, my girlfriends room card had been soaked through as she had it in her pocket and there was heavy rain. We told the man at the desk she didn't have it and his response was "not my problem" along with a shrug of his shoulders. After an exchange of words, I insisted there must be another way to check she was genuinely staying in the hostel at which point he reluctantly checked her ID and approximately 10 seconds later he confirmed and we were allowed to our room. Very rude, not to mention completely unnecessary.

On to the next major issue, BED BUGS! My girlfriend was bitten all over her arms at some point towards the end of our stay. She politely wrote an email once we had left to make them aware of this and their response indicated that, because we didn't complain while we were there (we didn't realise until we left) there was no way to prove the bed bugs were from the hostel. They said instead they could have been from "e.g. flight,bus, train, coffee shop, park, and etc"

The fact that there are countless reviews of this hostel citing bed bugs indicates to me clearly where the problem lies.

Avoid this place like the plague. Honestly, it is much better to book somewhere that respects their guest and pay a few euro's extra per night. Lesson learnt

Has bedbugs in one of the rooms. After doing some research this has been going back 7 or so years. The other rooms were fully booked so we spent the night the night in dam, was a fun story but its not the point. They've had this problem for years and they had the cheek to argue with me when I said we had found bed bugs in the room. We ended up staying in the "Budget hostel hear of amsterdam" which is literally a 2 min walk away just down the road. Until they sort out the problem please don't book. Other than the bugs though, place is chill.

Stayed in mid July 2017: The hostel is infested with bed bugs! Don't go there, it'll ruin your trip, it's not worth the good location. The hostel has a routine of pretending to be surprised and denying that it's a problem and continues letting people sleep in the infestation. The amount of bites we got is alarming for our short stay. Disgusting place! Rude, corrupt staff, extremely dirty frat house. All we were asking for was a place to sleep and we couldn't even do that. Zero stars.

The rooms are relatively clean and the hostel is located in the very center of Amsterdam. But these are the only positive parts of the hostel. First of all it's very very loud, because of the Bar in the entrance. Then secondly I have not experienced employees being as rude as the employees at Hotel the Globe. Thirdly they also charge you for everything!! You even have to pay 5% more, if you want to pay with a Credit Card. When I told them "Wow. I didn't know that" they said "Well, then you should have taken a better look on our website". One more advice: Bring your own lock for your locker!!! They charge you 5€ for a lock (more then other hostels).

It's good for one or even two nights, but nothing more! It gives you a bed but that's actually all you really need here in this city.

Exactly what I expected. Really friendly staff. Great drinks and atmosphere. Pool table, and table football. Rooms are adequate and are to a clean standard. Bar open till 3am for hotel guests. Would come again.

Room was dingy and didn't have Wifi. There were no ladders to climb up to second bunk - you had to use the furniture. One of my roommates almost fell. Bathrooms were not very clean with a lot of grafitti. Sheets were ripped. Do not recommend.

No wifi in rooms, no chill out areas other than bar, great location and cheap

But poor wifi other than in expensive bar makes it a not recommend

It's got no air con either so you have noise from open windows

Rooms and location are decent. The WiFi doesn't reach up to the 3rd floor. However, it is a secure building, the sheets and bathrooms are decently clean, would stay again

Extremely basic but I found my room was clean (room 100), as was the bathroom however the lighting was very poor (difficult to do makeup in!). The main bar is alright though the toilets downstairs are a bit skanky. Staff nice enough but get funny if you ask for tap water. NO SMOKING ROOM - be warned if you expect one as I did! I don't know when they got rid of it but they advertise as still having one which they don't anymore. In conclusion, I had an alright enough time, the beds were clean and comfy though the lockers are a bit finicky - seems luck of the draw with this one. Great location though it's a bit of a seedy one!
