We went on the 10pm tour and it was nearly empty. The city was beautiful at night, and while listening to the audio available in 20+ languages was great it was more enjoyable to sit out on the back deck to enjoy the views. The lady working the booth gave us a discount without even asking and everyone working was friendly. The ride also came with snacks and a free drink. Great way to see the city.

We took the small open boat and the views were exceptional with a very informative commentary by the 'captain'. The best way to see this amazing city. Highly recommended.

Great way to see the city! We went on the evening dinner cruise 2.5 hours. Fantastic food! Due to food and it being in the evening we didn't see much details.. So I'd suggest doing a day cruise as well.

I recommend this canal cruise. Last week I joined the Open Boat Canal Cruise and I had a great time. This kind of boat is quite small and there were just 6 of us on board. I think this is way better than big groups on big boats. I also think it's good value for money: 18 € for 75 minutes.

Took the 75 minute tour around the city and it was pleasant enough as it is very relaxing way to see the city. I thought the narration was a bit lame and patchy - don't expect too much from it. I paid a heavily discounted price (under 10 Euro) - which was about what it was worth.

We went for the night cruise. Our tickets included a free drink but don't ask for water- they don't tell you that it's not included with the tickets therefore you have to pay 2,50 euros for it. Also no one was talking about the town or sights that you saw along the cruise- you listened to an audio guide that was pretty cheesy. Not worth the money. I have been on a few steamboat tours back at home where for the same price, you actually have a person talking about sights along the river and adds personality to it.

The only company in Amsterdam offering wheelchair access to the canal boats. Easy lift and helpful staff. Sound system a bit erratic but an interesting trip and not too expensive. Start point a little out of the way - many of the others start near the station.

The small boat tour is fun and informative and well worth the money. The tour takes you on less crowded and smaller canals and is much more personal than the larger tours.

Outstanding customer service! Our "sky boat" tour was a delight -- the small boat allowed for great conversation with the skipper and other riders. It was a very nice tour. Additionally, the Blue Boat Company delivered especially good customer service. After experiencing a glitch with our online booking, the Blue Boat team all worked to quickly and earnestly to ensure everything was resolved. We came away happy and eager to recommend their business.

I walked in to the office and was on my phone looking for the ticket. One of the workers walked up and stood behind me, peering over my shoulder to see what I was doing. Then I boarded the boat and the operator greeted me, and patted me on the back while I was walking down the stairs. Excuse me? Why would he think he has the right to touch a strange woman half his age? He was creepy and gross. Also, the narration was cheesy and annoying, and downright sexist. I would not recommend using this company.

The tour had the potential to be good, as there was some great information on the audio guide. However, the captain and server were talking to each other so loudly that I couldn't hear most of it. Halfway through the tour, the audio wasn't synced with what we were seeing. So information about the landmarks was given several minutes after we passed it. The audio guide also said our 'friendly captain will point out the Anne Frank house as we go by.' He was too busy chatting and didn't bother. The menu and online booking information mentioned one free drink but on board people were told there was no hard liquor or even hot drinks like tea and coffee. Overall I found it quite substandard and the staff completely disengaged. By the time the audio guide encouraged us to tip the captain I was just happy to be off the boat!

Nice to see the city from the water but the audio guide is pretty basic and does not contain a lot of info on the city.
I would advice you to go for a smaller tour among small vanals, although that is more expensive
On the plus side, great to get outside the city center and have a look at the Nemo, the Opera

You can hardly skip a canal boat tour when in Amsterdam. The route is good (probably the same for all companies), you do get to see a fair bit of town. Wouldn't be surprised either if the audio was the same with all companies. Could be a bit better. We took the evening tour, it was picturesque, but I would prefer day time. Equally, I would advise only to get on a boat where your company can all pick at WINDOW seat, it makes a lot of difference (if a boat's already too full, let it go and take the next one).
