Want to feel right at home? The Lil Aussiehut Hut is the place to stay! Charlie and Paul make you feel right at home at their retreat! There is a near private beach right out the back patio area!

MUST STAY HERE
Staying 3 nights, ended up 12!
Living and working abroad in 4 different continents for many years, The Aussie Hut was exactly the Guest House I was looking for to unplug and lay back before returning to work.
*Steps from the beach
*Out of San Juan Del Sur
*Rustic, affordable and comfortable
*Easy going and laid back
*In tune with nature and Nicaraguan ways
*Sleep to the sound of the waves
*Communal kitchen and BBQ
*BYO bar
*Real books to read
*Fruit & Veg truck twice a week
*Beach Restaurants also do take out
The Aussie's with 3 kids, moved from Australia to raise their children in a basic and practical environment. They built a giant tree house in stages that flavors traditional Nicaragua, and warmly welcome visitors through their Robinson Crusoe doors. "Their house is your house". I felt like part of the family right from the get go and ended up extending my stay.
"Vacationer's" that suck the fun & sunshine from any party or can't see the sunset on the horizon because the beach is too sandy, this place is not for you.
"Traveler's" that are open to new cultural experiences and can see the sunset that lights up the beach, you will love this place.
Out of all the countries I have been to, I will be returning to the Aussie Hut for more great times, sunset cocktails, beach therapy and 5 Star Camping in a Bamboo Mansion.response / report this review -

DON'T STAY HERE
We reserved this place for three nights to escape party San Juan and surf. We had been in contact with the owner before our arrival who stated there would be a BBQ, many people staying there, a bar and surfing close by. We arrived after traveling all day to a place that looked incomplete. Here is what happened:
*There was no water and no shops nearby. The owner Charlie then offered a glass of her own rain water after she realized how thirsty we were.
*She then told us if we wanted to buy water or food for the night (there was no BBQ, or bar) she suggested a nearby restaurant might be open.
*One of the most uncomfortable parts was the owner (the husband) was incoherent drunk at 4pm. He was difficult to understand and slurring his words.
*There was no safe to keep your money or passport safe. The room had a shanty lock.
*There were birds nest upstairs in the room.
*There was pee in the toilet and the bathrooms were a mess.
*There was also no one else staying there.
*We didn't feel comfortable staying there even one night so we immediately left and booked somewhere else yet still had to pay 12$ cab each way and 25$ a person for the two hours we were there
I have stayed in hostels all over the world in a lot of different types of accommodations and have never left this quickly and felt this upset. I wasn't expecting a five star hotel, we wanted a laid back treehouse. However, we feel lied to and felt very uncomfortable in the setting and around the drunk owner.
I worry the reviews were staged as they do not reflect this place, we wanted to warn others.response / report this review -

Best place ever.The Hosts are Friends now.The Place is so beautiful and amazing that words can't describe.Lovely view and People.Go there!

Your right on the secluded beach in a giant palapa. It's pretty impressive. Pull find yourself trying all the hammocks until you choose your favorite. (There are like 20 hammocks)

This place is amazing. If you're looking for great accommodation on a secluded beach this is the place. Charlie and Paul are amazing, friendly and generous hosts. We enjoyed our time so much. And if you are here on Wednesday Sergio's pizza is absolutely amazing!!! We cannot say enough about this place. Definitely recommend it!!!

We loved it, the best host you can ask for, great ambient, and a beautiful beach. The Lill' Aussie hut is run by great people who will make you feel like home. The facilities are beautiful as well, and the beds are awesome! I had the best time with them at that little paradise in Marsella, Nicaragua. I'll most definitely be back!
