Our group enjoyed lunch/drinks at the restaurant before going on a 4 hour kayak tour of the Rio Istian which departed from beside the restaurant. Large portions and good food. I liked that the kayaks we used were the tradition kind (sit-in and not on-top-of). Our guide showcased bird, turtles and plants on our tour. A further paddle to the river, but worth it for the guide/better kayaks and pre/post food options.

Ein kleines, uriges, authentisches Streu-Dorf. Die Meridianer sind Touristen gegenüber sehr aufgeschlossen und neugierig. Die meisten Menschen sind von der Landwirtschaft und/oder Fischerei abhängig und leben in sehr sehr einfachen Verhältnissen. Die Natur um das Dorf ist eine Pracht!!! Flora und Fauna sind ein Touristenmagnet. Leider ist aber Müll, Rodung, Rückgang von Flora&Fauna und Wasserverschmutzung ein Problem, so wie in ganz Nicaragua.
Das Dorf is mit Bus ca. 2 Stunden vom Moyogalpa oder 1 1/2 von Altagracia entfernt. Aber mitlerweile kann man beinahe überall Motorräder oder Autos mieten und somit is man viel schneller unterwegs. Aber waarschaut: Die Polizei jagd regelrecht Touristen ohne Helm und Führerschein. So kassieren sie dicke ab!
