This hotel is one of those places that is so full of historic charm and bygone frendliness, that it just amaze the weary traveler into peace and rest. From reception to the resturant and bar, it is obvious that a rich history is part of this hotel. If ever you travel through this part of Namibia, dont miss the chance to be part of this history.
Beautiful sunset! Clean and neat rooms! Spend one night - good food! Friendly staff!
Great place to overnight. Halfway between windhoek and rsa places
Perfect stop over. Good accommodation and good food.
Nice place to rest after a long trip Would recommend this country house.!
Had everything we needed. Nice place to stop for the night.
My second visit. I like it because of the location. It is reasonably priced and the food is good. The rooms are clean.
They charge as much for this ub-standard facility with average food as much as other nearby venues with lots of character and charm, much better standard of equipment and good friendly personal service, charge.
Simple and clean facilities. Mixture of camping and motel style rooms ( concrete slabs with a comfy mattress on top) with shared ablutions. Hot water is from solar geysers so plan for a hot shower in afternoon or evening. Kettle and makings in rooms for that early morning cuppa before hitting the road again.
Buffet dinner was excellent homestyle food.
The worst accomodation I have ever experienced. Johan is a terrible owner and has no hospitality skills whatsoever. He is very rude to guests and even his own personnel. He has a take it or leave it attitude, clearly showing the attitude to you that If you are not satisfied with what he has to offer you may leave his premises. He will also think of anyway to further squeeze a quick buck out of his guests. After we were involved in a accident near Ai Ais and arriving late at his premises (even though we had friends informing him of our situation) he seemed uninterested and even asked the tow truck driver to inform us that If we don't confirm the booking we are not welcome in his hotel. After we confirmed the booking he told our friends that he will leave the room open for us as he was not willing to wait for us. Upon arrival at Grunau Hotel, the room was not left open. (a room which we booked and paid for in the amount R600,00). The ablution facilities are not quite up to standard and warm water is not always available. I will not recommend making use of this Hotel to anyone and will seriously warn you to be cautious of this place.
Horrible. Rather proceed to the next town. Johan has a "Take it or leave it attitude". I complained about not having hot water for a morning shower - apparently showers are to be taken in the evenings only due to solar panels heating and I am welcome to take my leave if I don't like the place or his attitude. Rather sleep over at Keetmanshoop or Karasburg. Not recommended at all.
Good stay and rooms. Bar is good. Good stay.
Meets basic needs and the food is great
Friendly staff good food good rest spot or stay for a few days
I stayed in one of the little rooms that shares ablutions with the camp site. It was quite nice with coffee making facilities and air conditioning. Very adequate for what I needed. The ablutions are fabulous and quite quirky.
My wife ans me stayed in a two bed bedroom, Rooms are nice and clean and equiped with air conditioning. Communal ablutions are used. We had supper in the hotel restaurant and the food was very nice - price average. Service was friendly and price for the stay was reasonable..
