Soho Hotel Playa del Carmen
Room smells like mold and mildew
Room 90 degrees when we arrived at 8:00 PM and smelled—took two hours to get it to 75 degrees
Second day room still smells like mildew and my allergies kept me awake all night. This is not right.
Safe doesn’t work
Refrigerator doesn’t get cold
No view
Balcony has no furniture and dirty—-useless.
WiFi only works in lobby
“Romantic Deluxe room” which we paid extra for has nothing deluxe or romantic. Desk person said it has a coffee maker and a (cheap) bottle of wine. How is that romantic??
Pool bar and restaurant non-existent. No place to get anything to eat or drink at rooftop pool. Completely closed with no bar set up or chairs to sit on It is Four floors down to our room, which we can’t cool drinks because refrigerator doesn’t cool—-so no drinks of any sort.
Told when we checked in that we would have to move up to the fourth floor on our last night. Someone must need our room. Convenient???? Not for us. NOT DOING IT.response / report this review -

Just spent 9 days at this hotel. Terrible experience. Construction all day long preventing you from a restful vacation. Strict visit policy - no visitors even if it is family. Unable to make a local call from your room. No english speaking staff in the evening if you have issues like no hot water (constant issue). No services of any kind. Worst hotel I have ever stayed at - would not recommend.

A LOT of construction going on in December 2017. Really loud hotel, even in the room. rooftop bar was not accessible during our stay. Asked manager for a discount but was quickly denied. Plenty of other good options nearby.

Small non-chain hotel in center of town with emphasis on design over service. No in-hotel food or drink options, roof top bar not staffed, moldy AC units. Poor (free) breakfast in next door restaurant (worst coffee imaginable). Free parking. Consider nearby alternatives.

Comfortable hotel, spacious rooms, huge beds. Didn't use the pool as it was raining whilst I was there. Breakfast is at a restaurant over the road, it's fine, nothing to write home about.

There's a restaurant that connects to hotel but no room service. We had an upgrade but we're put in a basic room, after we brought it up we felt manager was aware but trying to pull a fast one on us. Otherwise staff was very helpful. Great location on the southern end of strip just a short half block walk from all the action on 5th ave, area very active if you're into working out and yoga.

We enjoyed our stay at SOHO PLAYA. The room was clean and comfortable. Included breakfast was good. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great location near all the shops and restaurants on 5th Ave and not too far a walk to the beach. Nice rooftop bar and pool area.

Room is somewhat small, but lots of handy storage. Modern decor. Bathroom has nice shampoo and conditioner, and the towels are nice, plush and absorb water very well. Small balcony and hammock. Elevator is available. TV works well, but only a few American channels are available. A/C works well enough to keep things cool, but not super cold (which I prefer, so the heat isnt such a shock to my system). No fridge in the room. The bed is comfortable. The street outside is somewhat loud, starting at 8am (traffic with some minor honking). Pool is on the roof and you can see the ocean way off in the distance. The pool and hot-tub are practically the same temperature, and are cooler than the air outside, which is refreshing if you want to cool down. Its a really nice area to hang out. Complimentary breakfast has options such as omelettes, toast, pancakes, baguettes, and fruit. Coffee, tea, juice and more.

These guys left us a bottle of champagne and a bed of rose petals upon our arrival into our room. We had mentioned it was our honeymoon on our reservation and Reggie hotel went above and beyond. Free drinks and breakfast were also included with our stay.
