Got the Prix fixed menu here and a few cocktails ( had to send one back because it was bad). The presentations were all stunning as you would expect from a restaurant of this standing. However, the food was average and mostly flavorless. There were only a few tastes in the whole course that stood out. One was the mole, another a tomato sauce (both on vegetarian dishes that a friend got), the catch of the day was also pretty good and so was the final dessert (guava paste). Everything else was average at best. Overall a disappointing experience given the restaurants reputation.
Well organized and well executed fine dining. My wife and I shared two starters, three mains, and two deserts, and our server made sure the kitchen divided each dish so we had our own portions. Each dish was appropriately timed, allowing us more than two hours to enjoy our meal.
Most of the food was very good, though a few dishes were merely above average. Though not surprising, the portions were indeed quite small. We were glad for the experience, however we wouldn't return unless someone else footed the bill! Our food experience in CDMX was that you can find nearly as unique, excellent food for a far better value!
Cozy restaurant in Polanco with extremely creative, beautiful and delicious dishes. The to octopus or the ant eggs! Amazing service BUT, we reserved several months in advance and on the day of our reservation, the restaurant asked us to arrive 15 minutes earlier. We agreed but only arrived 10 minutes earlier. The hostess advised us that due to this 5 minute delay on our part, we were not allowed to have the tasting menu! We couldn't believe our ears and we were extremely disappointed but this lack of hospitality!!! Despite this setback, the meal was amazing. Bravo to the chef. Quite expensive but worth it!
The food was exquisite, the service was good, and ambiance would have been fine if not for this table of 6 douchbros who were so loud and classless it ruined my ability to enjoy the meal. I couldn't even hear the explanations of the tasting menu over their cursing and laughing. They acted like they were in a dive bar rather than one of the world's 50 beat restaurants. Despite multiple complaints from every other table in the room, the staff did not do anything about it, and continued to serve them drinks as they became more and more disruptive. I would have spend twice the money on drinks and been much more leisurely about my experience if it wasn't unbearable to be in the same room as them.
I can't say enough good things about Quintonil. The space is cozy as soon as you step in, plenty of flowers and comfortable furniture all around. Dinner itself was masterful, with the tasting menu being one of the best meals I've ever had. Flavor balance, pacing, textures, presentation; all so carefully crafted and rehearsed. On top of the food and ambiance, the service was perfect, and the cherry on top was the tea presentation at the conclusion of the meal: fresh bunches of herbs and flowers that I can only assume are cut from the restaurant's garden that day. Absolutely wonderful from start to finish!
Quintonil exceeded my expectations - sublime experience on every level. Chef Jorge Vallejo is a protégée of Pujol's Enrique Olvera and is serving truly enlightened food. Loved the Charred avocado tartare with "escamoles" and Mexican herb chips; "Salbut" with wild mushrooms confit in "agave" honey, seasoned with "chile mixe" powerd and fresh corn; Crab tostada with lime, radish and "chile habanero" mayonnaise and one of my favorites, Creamy green rice with a perfect egg, avocado and cilantro sprouts (the egg was absolutely perfect). Also, they had a special cocktail made with Mezcal, passion fruit, avocado and orange! The staff was fantastic and we were able to sit in the back room which has high ceilings and is really bright and open for lunch which made the experience even that much more memorable.
The best food we had in Mexico. Beautifully presented and reasonably priced.
Great service, fantastic food. The dishes are so unique and light. The green rice with an egg was outstanding, and it's not on the tasting menu. Get it. Be prepared to spend at least 2 hours here, even if you don't get the testing menu.
The chef here was amazing. We did the tasting menu at lunch, and he was kind enough to come out to serve some of our plates and explain his thought process behind each dish. His pastry chef did the same. The service here was amazing and the food was beyond our (very high) expectations. They definitely deserve their spot on the 50 best list, if not a higher rank.
Really really great and interesting menu. Do not be afraid of the ant eggs dish.
The food is spectacular, the attention to detail, combination of flavours, textures and colours is outstanding. One of the best restaurants in the world, this is high-end cuisine in a relax atmosphere.
Amazing mind blowing experience! The service was great, the wines paired really well with the food and the food itself was exquisite! Thanks to all at Quintonil who made our day fabulous!
Awesome dining experience! Unique and chic ambiance! Wine's from around the world paired with a delicious menu. Flawless service. Highly recommended!
