We love the resort. Rooms are very comfortable. Staff is accommodating.
Food in the specialty restaurants is very good. We prefer to come during the off season when it isn't so busy and full.
This resort was amazing, my friends and I along with a few parents were here for spring break and we couldn't of been more happy, the food was pretty decent and the service was amazing. The best quality in that aspect was the drinks, there was a huge variety and they were very good. The activities that we got to do were amazing and very fun and along with just chilling on the beach in the warm weather, the pools and service around were amazing as well. When it came to night there was a show in the middle open area every night which seemed cool and we had a good time just relaxing at the bars and listening to music and as well as the club with music we like and good drinks. This is an awesome place to visit and I can't stress enough how clean and good quality everything was and the service. Id like to especially give credit to a few workers, Carlos in particular, he was amazing and worked on the upper floor in the main hotel area where you could get pizza and drinks at night and he was only 20 years old just a kid like us and he could barley speak English but we were able to communicate in Spanish and he was the nicest guy and server we had, he was so amazing and I hope he gets promoted! We left him and the others a great tip and I wish we could've seen Carlos more, by far the best vacation I've been on and i was beyond sad when it came time to leave along with my friends, would recommend this place to anyone
Relaxing, beautiful, clean, and fun resort! My husband and I have traveled to a lot of places in Europe together and none came close to Occidental. The room and bathroom were both big and clean, the bed was so comfy it was hard to get out of in the morning. There were so many food options it was impossible not to find something yummy. Also, the bartenders and servers were great. They made your drink however you liked and were fun to be around. We paid $30 each for a glass bottom boat to pick us up from the dock and go snorkeling at three nearby reefs. Worth it! I had a massage (which was AMAZING) while my husband went out on a catamaran (included with resort) with some friends we met. If you book through barcelo you may get a $$ credit like we did which I used for the massage. The grounds are beautiful. The landscaping was pristine and there was a lot of interesting wildlife around the resort. Last but not least, the activities directors were so fun. My husband played beach soccer with Jesus and other people, while I sat in one of several cabanas, watching with a drink in my hand. When we left, we tried to think of any tips we could give the resort and we really couldn't think of anyit was perfect!
This resort was amazing, my family and I went there last year and again this year. The rooms are very nice and spacious, with a nice balcony, and we were able to get rooms close together with my family. The events there were amazing as well, the employees that planned the events are amazing at their jobs, especially an employee named Jesus. He planned fun events for the guests every day and made the trip spectacular for me and my family. We will definitely go to the resort again when going to Cozumel. 5 stars!
Beautiful resort. The room are very spacious and clean. The check in staff gave us wrong room after a 1 hour check in time. Then we had to do it over. We found that if you ask the same question to 5 different staff members you'll get 5 different answers. The food some days was inedible and all days lacking in flavor.
I loved staying here! Super beautiful resort and room along with great staff! Margarita in the royal club was so nice, helpful, and quick to help with any questions or requests. Plenty of things to do around the resort during the day and night.
Great rooms, good food for all meals but dinner. WiFi is fast but expensive, can be used on one device at a time but you can log out and log in across multiple. Staff here is great and lots of fun. As a college age kid there is little night life and if your the only family at that age it would be a huge bummer. Over all great experience and definitely would go back!
Beautifully landscaped, friendly staff, nice rooms, comfortable beds, lots of options at the buffet. The beach is a long beautiful stretch of fine sand. The dive Facility on-site is excellent too. The night Entertainment is good quality.
Great service, staff was very friendly and always willing to help. Was anticipating being bombarded with time share people but only had to say no, once. Was able to enjoy the week diving, hassle free! Pro dive staff were great! Plan to return in the near future! Would like to have had more authentic Mexican food options at the buffet.
Such a great place. The rooms were very nice and clean. The grounds were beautiful and kept groomed. The service was top notch. We went not expecting much from some of the other reviews and the place exceeded our expectations. We have already talked about going back again.
Amazing staff very attentive. Be warned the free WiFi is only free in the lobby for an hour and if you log in for ten mins and don't want to continue then they see it as an hour.
The staff in each block of apartments are lovely but do try to sell you time shares within the complex. But like I said all the staff are lovely as are the locals if you venture out.
Great resort, had so much fun here. If you come you must meet Jesus! Great friend of mine and made the trip 1000 times better, great spirit and just overall a great vibe! I recommend you visit!
Tucked away in tropical greenery this well maintained all inclusive resort right on the beach on the Southwestern Cozumel has half a dozen restaurants, including one on the beach front and multiple pools. Kids club for childcare, spa/massage, nightly entertainment.
Various boats for diving or snorkeling trips make a stop at the dock. Nice accomodations in a number of categories with great amenities.
Of course, all you can eat or drink as much as you want pretty much from early morning to late at night. Safe and secure.
The downside here is that there is so much to do and enjoy, one may never venture out in the real Cozumel just outside and miss out on the wonderful local flavor. Also, watch out for their vacation club (another name for time share) promoters who seem to be everywhere, unless of course you are into that sort of thing.
Had a great time at this resort. It was our first time in Cozumel. Luis was especially great. Staff was friendly and accommodating food was fantastic and the grounds were well kept and the adult pool was great. Beach was beautiful and the snorkeling was amazing. My son did some diving as well that was wonderful too. Highly recommend and will return.
The water is clear. The resort beach is good. It gets 3' deep very fast then slowly gets deeper. The adult pool is very nice and we enjoyed the iguanas that hang out by the pool. The rooms get a bit warm in the daytime but after spending the day in the heat it is cool enough to sleep. Tip the maids with a note of what you want and they will keep the mini fridge stocked.
Although the resort is beautiful and the rooms are nice, the experience was very frustrating. The food wasn't good and if you didnt make a reservation in the morning all you had to eat at night was a bad buffet. Customer service was pretty bad for the most part. They mixed up our names and rooms with someone else and they stayed mixed up until we left. The worst part is the sales pitches they give you everyday. You constantly have to turn down their time share invitations. Other than that the resort is beautiful and the shows are good. Not enough to get me back tho
I've had a wonderful time at the Occidental this week. The staff is fantastic, the accommodations are great, and the specialty restaurant where I ate was very good. Additionally, the facilities provided beach front access, and have pools for the whole family, or adults only (which is nice when you want to relax without children around). The only real downside would be that the dinner buffet leaves something to be desired. Would definitely stay here again.
The hotel is about a 20 minute taxi ride from downtown and the ferry, which can be inconvenient but is also an advantage because it is away from the crowds and built-up area. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The staff is very helpful and friendly, but sometimes the restaurants are short staffed. The food was not as good as I was expecting. Diving was a good experience with the shop on site. Overall a pretty good place to vacation. The Royal Club is worth it in my opinion. It is like an add-on to everything you normally get at the hotel plus extras. It gives you access to an exclusive restaurant, a large jacuzzi, a special concierge, and priority reservations at the restaurants that require reservations (which is most of them).
My husband and I went there for our 21st anniversary in June 2016 we stayed for eight nights nine days and we had a phenomenal time everyone of the pools were open crystal clear immaculately clean every bar was open the buffet could use some improvement but we stayed in the Royal club and so we got the private restaurant the food in there was top-notch amazing, Everyone was polite they went out of their way to help us we had zero problems whatsoever the nightly activities were fun.there was stuff there for children to do the beach was clean always had a drink in hand did not have to wait for anything our rooms were immaculately clean and stocked every day we never had one issue we are going back May 2017 into June 2017 we have reserved three rooms in the Royal club for our entire family and we're expecting to have the same kind of service we had last summer we had the best time of our lives. top-notch service from a top notch company/ resort
I would recommend this to anyone every single time!!!!
Was there a year ago with a friend. Check in was easy and quick. Only problem was with the broken safe and we had numerous people come look at it over an hour and a half until it was finally fixed. The room was okay, bathroom surprisingly large. Loved the shower and coconut shampoo and body wash! Loved the small quiet pool where the iguanas hung out daily. Also loved the walk on the bridge to get to the large pool nd beach. The beach was amazing, nice and sandy when entering. Snorkelled all day from the beach and saw amazing fish, rays, etc. Went on three snorkelling tours at the Dive Shop. Took us to the reefs- worth every penny! Food was alright, nothing great just okay. Loves the lush greenery on the grounds they were beautifully kept. I would definitely recommend this resort if you want a place to relax. I plan on going back in the future.
