I was looking for a nice place with ambience to celebrate my birthday and I am so happy I decided on this place. The surf and turf I had was easily one of the best I have ever had, the wait staff was friendly and took great care of me, the owner was personable and made me feel welcome. I traveled solo and the experience was perfect!

We (3) were there on Friday night. Steak night! Napa salad, and the filet mignon, cooked perfectly to medium, with a pitcher of sangria. The presentation, beautiful. The flavours, divine. My mouth is watering thinking about that steak again. Our server, Thomas, was excellent and attentive. LaCocay will be on my list for the next visit to the island.

We went for Valentine's day and really enjoyed it. Fast (for Cozumel) service and tasty food. Nice ambience too.

First.the food at this place is AMAZING. I've eaten here several times. But this last visit the service was absolutely awful. We had a table of 15 and after the main course came out we sat for 45 minutes without seeing a waiter, being asked how the food was or getting drink refills.

We had to ASK/beg them to wait on us.

If service doesn't improve, I won't be back.

Great service and food - we had scallops and melt-in-the-mouth steak - with perfect portion size (i.e. not too big!) and cooked perfectly (except maybe the crème brulée which was a little heavy but did have a nice crust) 4 varieties of red wine by the glass (so couples aren't forced to share a bottle) Above all, good Italian espresso and not the american-style dreck so common in this part of the world.

Best Meal of the Month! We are honeymooning in Cozumel. Our resort has average food, located about 20 minutes south of the city. We rented a car to drive around the island today and had dinner at La Cocay. She had the shrimp pasta with white wine sauce and I chose their special for the night, grilled lobster tail and Fillet. It was the best surf and turf I have ever tasted! They had taken the meat completely out of the shell and grilled it to perfection. I like my Fillet rare, they knocked it out of the park. It was a really good cut of meat. The lobster complimented the steak so well. Her pasta was great too. She loved how different their sauce became with the use of the popular local cheeses. After a few glasses of wine, 2 tapas, and 2 entrees, we ended up spending $100 after tip. Perfect little restaurant away from all the tourists on the main strip. I highly recommend sitting on the back patio with the white tablecloth tables by the garden. It was an awesome evening.
