Perfect hostel if you want a private room in Tulum. Spacious compound with oppurtunity for socializing.

I would describe Casa del sol as a hippy's paradise. It's got a lovely courtyard with a big open air kitchen and dining area. The lockers, toilets and showers are located separately from the bedrooms. There's a great rooftop area with hammocks to chill out in, where you can pitch up your tent or watch the sunrise or sunset. Breakfast is included, but is only served from 8-9am. Overall a nice place to stay, but not necessarily everyone's cup of tea

Super chill place, good to meet other travelers. Pretty basic accommodations but great community vibes. It should be known that the steam room/temezcal that they advertise isn't in working order and looks like it hasn't been for quite some time. Solid breakfast cooked by the owner and free use of functioning bikes, definitely wake up early to reserve one! The gas stove requires a certain amount of patience and resourcefulness to use, but with a bit of teamwork and creativity it is no problem :)

One of the best hostels I stayed in. Large, spacy, clean and great people. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Good location.

Great hostal, slightly quieter on the edge of downtown but close to lots of great food and good shops for groceries. Eric who runs it most of the time is a very nice guy who makes great breakfasts!

Camped here for one night, a little expensive, but that's the area I guess. Really nice owner, a good guy indeed. The free bicycles are a a bit sketchy. Breakfast is really tasty but not nearly enough to fill you up.

One of the best Hostels I've ever been. The owner is soo nice. Helps you with everything. Free bicycles to rent for the day. Free water for drinking. WiFi is just awesome. Could download a whole movie on Netflix within 2 minutes although others were using the Internet as well. Very clean. Showers and toilets are clean and working! The owner makes a nice fresh breakfast every morning! Can highly recommend this place !

The vibe was really weird here. The guy at the reception was a bit strange and the rooms were not particularly nice (beds were too small (I'm 1.90m), not very comfortable and not great. There was also a Mexican festival right next door so we had to endure blasting Mayan music until 4am. This is not the fault of the hostel but they could have at least told us and offered ear plugs.
The toilets didn't offer much privacy and the WiFi didn't reach the rooms.
The positives: the breakfast was really nice (pancakes) and there was hammock + free bike rental (first come first serve).response / report this review -

The hostel seems a little run down at first, and indeed is a little architecturally messy, but it has everything you need to have a fantastic hostel experience in Tulum. Friendly staff, a great kitchen and eating area to meet fellow travelers, clean bathrooms, and free bike rental (if you are willing to get up early to nab one for the day - which you absolutely should do). Renovation of the rooftop would really complete the hostel.

The guy Eric on the reception wasn't friendly and helpful at all. At the end he didn't even know how much we owed him. We've stayed 4 nights because the people were nice and the atmosphere quite good. I would not recommend to camp there
