Great place, in not sure this wad the name of the beach we went to (mahuahul, or similar). The water was nice, some rocks in the water. Nice place to shop other than at the port. But, way more expensive than other places too and not too willing to bargain. Great staff, stiff drinks!
Very nice place with lots of amenities. The attention of all of the personal was amazing!!! I would go again easy!
Attended the beach excursion there. $64 for unlimited drinks and chairs, and attentive server. Food extra. Good times!
I ate at the little restaurant next to the beach - very friendly and decent food. A little on the expensive side I thought.
I loved this little rustic gem. It's not for everyone though. My girlfriend and I booked it with her parents and they absolutely hated it. The cabins that we rented were right across from the beach with a beautiful little porch with plenty of little restaurants and shops just down the Malecón. For those with an adventurous spirit I highly recommend this. People looking for a 5 star hotel, however, maybe stick to a concrete building.
Really bad place!! Their employees are great sales people who offer you some drinks from the house and then charge the drink anyway, for a double price! Only cruise people are positive about this place because they don't notice that they are being conned! Don't go here, there are much more honest and better places in Mahahual.
Great location, awesome beach and great snorkeling right off shore, what you would picture for a little Caribbean beach get away but the drinks are so so.. they water them down and the vendors in the area are relentless. Would give the Beach 5 stars but the drinks and vendors 1 Star.
Good service, food and drinks, reasonably priced. Relaxed atmosphere as it wasn't too busy at the time we visited. Worth a visit.
Only Eco in the name not by nature. Which is why I haven't given a higher rating. Best part of the beach.
Amazing cabañas and views! :) ❤
Beautiful place, clean and affordable, they have the option to buy bracelet for 495 pesos that includes all meals with drinks! (One drink per meal). We opted for an ocean view cabin kn the second floor and it was amaizing! See my pics 😄😃
Great place,,beaches were nice but it did have some sea weeds,,,snorkeling was amazing here,,the service was great,,it's a private beach club were you pay for your drinks up front,it was about 5 of us and we payed $190.00 to get to the into the beach area. It included beach chairs and umbrella, all the drinks you can drink alcohol and beers, soda for the kids,,they also had a pool,,,lots of vendors selling stuff like cigars and coconuts,,,family had a blast here.
Nice location but takes too long to get to. Practically no shopping here. Buffet is ok but way too Americanized. I don't want fries in Mexico. Ever.
Overpriced, a lot of mosquitos and others, construction waking you up at 7am The bar is overpriced too compared to what you can find elsewhere. But the beach is nice
Nice beach. Terribly slow service especially as things got busy. We had booked a package through a travel company (Shore excursions group) while our cruise ship was in port. As a part of this package the description included umbrellas, an "open bar", mexican snacks, and an authentic mexican dish. After we got there we learned that there were no umbrellas at the chairs, limited shade for the lounge chairs, the open bar did not include beer, the snack was chips salsa and bean dip, and the dish was nachos. The nachos were quite good but were more of an appetizer than anything. I am uncertain where the discrepancies happened if with the travel company, their local representatives or with the bar. The owner did her best to try to make up for the issues and we will be following up with the travel company at the end of our trip.
My recommendation if you come in on a cruise ship, rather than buying a package, pay the $5 for a taxi and then buy a few drinks and in the end you will come out ahead. This is a nice bar if you know what to expect.
The Pros: wonderful beach, charming bar, tasty nachos, fresh fruit in drinks
The Cons: slow service at times, limited shade if you want to layout all day, cleanliness of things like the cooler that the ice is stored in is a little sketchy
Great place! Nice cabins the beach is incredible. Great attention, food drinks. Everything you need.
I am a backpacker travelling by myself through Central America for 9 months (Bear this in mind as this is my review context). Firstly the positives: The location is amazing - the arguably have the nicest part of the beach and it is much quieter than in the main town. The dorm room was pretty good. No A/C but secure and fairly airy and bathrooms are very good and have hot water (if you wanted it!). The negatives: this place is not backpacker friendly, it's not a hostel, it just has one dorm room at the end of the strip of cabins. I was kept waiting for ages to check in and had to go out of my way to find them to pay. The impression I got was all they really care about is the cruise ships full of wealthy Americans who think that $5 for 2 beers in happy hour is a good price. The food and the drinks are way to expensive: If you stay here it is worth the 5 minute walk down the beach to the centre where you can cut your food bill in half and pay 28 pesos a beer instead of 40. Also at 250 pesos a night the down is a little overpriced without A/C. Having said all this there really aren't many good backpacker options here, so it may well still be your best option. Just eat and drink somewhere else!
