Myself and my boyfriend had the most magical 4 nights away at Blue Zebra in October 2020. We stayed in the Kingfisher chalet for 4 nights and it was secluded, with amazing views over the Lake, super comfy beds and a great shower. During the days we spent time swimming in the beautiful infinity pool, drinking cocktails and using the hotel's kayaks to explore the island. Food was really excellent especially the fish tacos! On the final day we did the nature trail around the island early about 8am, to avoid the hot sun, and then ended the trip with a relaxing massage. Can't wait to return! Thanks to the team, especially Jen, for looking after us so well.

Blue Zebra is my favorite place at Lake Malawi. Beautiful rooms/tents where you fall asleep with the sounds of Lake Malawi in the background. Not only is it the perfect place to unwind, spot birds, hike, do yoga ans swim, it's also perfect for foodies. The food and beautiful cocktails & mocktails keep surprising me every time I visit! Great job guys!

Blue Zebra is the epitome of relaxation! The island is stunning and offers the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. The birdwatching is phenomenal and if you're lucky enough you might even catch a glimpse of the elusive African Pitta. When done exploring the island and checking out the wildlife, Brian is always ready to whip you up cocktail poolside while you work on your tan.

Jen and Duncan are excellent hosts and the staff is phenomenal! The food is amazing. The fish tacos are delectable and you're sure to never go hungry during your stay.

The spa offers an array of services and Blessings and Lily are always happy to soothe away your tensions.

If you're looking for the perfect island getaway this is it!

Even though it was a short stay, we had such an amazing time at Blue Zebra. Being off the grid really allows you to relax and unwind. There is plenty of things to do here like hiking, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, and yoga.
The manager, Ken, clearly cares about his team and making this a great working environment. The staff is always willing to help and answer any question. I have to give a special shoutout to Stallon, as his service was fantastic and he was just a really nice guy.
I would come back here in a heartbeat! Thanks for a fantastic stay!

Fantastic. This intimate lodge has the entire island to itself, and is surrounded by snorkelling and kayaking opportunities in the lake. The island has lots of small animals to see including Thick-tailed Bushbabies.
The food is really excellent here, even more so when you consider that it’s a small island on a huge lake. It’s very well-cooked and full of flavour.
Staff are top-notch; they are warm and gracious and it’s great to see that the owners have gone to the effort to invest in their training. Any luxury hotel would be lucky to have these staff as their own.
Facilities are very clean and have a high standard of presentation: the tent-like rooms have very comfortable beds, mosquito nets and lovely showers. Some of the rooms look right on to the lake. You can see a lot of effort has been made to make these both practical and comfortable. They are surprisingly cool at night (we went in March). There is a pool which is warmed by the sun during the day and is pristine with a bar under a huge tree. There is also a conference centre which is open to the lovely grounds. This would be a great place for a business retreat.
Be advised for those who are working the generator on the island only runs at certain times of the day, but you can charge from the solar station when it is off.
Blue Zebra deserves to be very popular, and is a jewel for any visitor to Lake Malawi.

What a lovely spot! Excellent two bedroom "tent", central living area, large and well appointed bathroom, a sun deck and our own private little beach. Beautifully clean and well serviced. All the staff were courteous and extremely helpful. Food very good.
We had a wonderful time at the Lodge. Good walks, the lake great for snorkeling and we can recommend the Sundowner cruise.
And don't miss the sunsets and the stars!
