Although a great place to stay, this hotel is also popular for its bad condition of work for its employees. I personally like the cultural diversity of people when i visit a new place. But it seems this hotel is imposing various restrictive measures among its staff. Even the govt has lodge a court case against the hotel for anti constitutional measures. You hv better places to stay in mauritius.

We have been to the Caribbean a few times and this was our first visit to Mauritius. We were not disappointed but overwhelmed by the beauty of its coastline and scenery and by the hospitality and friendliness of its citizens. The Hotel was amazing, the best I have ever stayed in and far superior in every way to those in the Caribbean. "The Residence ‘met all our needs in luxury, attention to detail, and the hospitality shown towards us by the staff. We were given a ‘Butler’ who was always on call if needed and our room was well serviced by our very friendly chambermaid who changed our sheets after so many days without our prompting. The food choice was overwhelming and of a high quality, as was the service provided by those waiting on the tables. A big thank you to all the staff who made our visit so memorable and especially to the Manager who made our last day relaxing by extending our room stay because of our late flight. I must also mention that the local agents Coquille Bonheur were excellent.

Excellent holiday November 22 to December 7. Fourteen days of 28-30 deg sunshine, warm swimming pools, warm and clean sea, white sandy beaches (go for an early morning walk at 7am, no-one around!), and efficient staff, who were immaculately presented, well-organised and polite. We will be back.

Very grand appearance, good food, wonderful beach and a delightful pool. However, the customer service is a bit hit and miss, with the hotel slow to log us on their system after checking in, which created problems when ordering food and drinks on our first day. But on the positive side, the staff are very friendly.

Scenic beauty. Awesome environment. One can see the beauty of sea by sitting in the room of this hotel. Good place to visit for those who are golf lovers. Large rooms.

Watch the weather! September was cool, by 2pm not warm enough to be on beach, dark by 6pm so no evening to enjoy! Two restaurants with bored, over attentive staff wanting to chat 😬. Taxi drivers have a death wish get the hotel chauffeur only. Hotel is beautiful, calm & relaxing but just something missing .

Beutiful beautiful beautiful, three words to describe the residence resort. Sun, sea and sand what a relaxing holiday topped off by friendly staff this place really is a gem. They have a lovely spa on site and offer great relaxing treatments. Half board is a must which is what we went for and If we had the option of full board would have went for that. Drinks are not included and be warned it's not cheap!! you'll soon learn to ration on this though when the drinks start building up to near enough a meal. I don't want to take anything away from the resort but I don't think I would give it a 5 star! Don't get me wrong we as a family loved it but why did I knock off a star? Well the food at times did not meet my expectations sometimes as 5 star, we managed to find a nice little hut just outside the resort which was amazing and food tasted more authentic and felt like was cooked from the heart rather then trying to cater for tourists. Again the resort food wasn't bad just preferred the food out the resort the few times we did go out. We had complimentary water activities included with our package which was a nice touch. I'm not entirely sure if the resort is completely child friendly at times as my kids were often told to quite down by the pool side which was a shame because I like to think my kids are reasonably well behaved, I guess most of the guests including our selfs were there more to relax so I didn't really take it up as an issue but definitely worth noting. It is a once in a life time experience as Mauritius it self like paradise on earth.

Amazing scenarios, great rooms, super friendly personnelcrazy expensive bar, not worth it. £50 for a cheap bottle of wine you would buy for £5 in UKthe missing star is for the bar prices.

5 stars?!!?! Not a chance. The food is terrible and overpriced by a long shot. Sure the surrounding is nice and so is the hotel, but that doesn't make it a 5 star hotel. The shop tried to charge 10 000 rupees for a beach dress that cost 2000 elsewhere. We ordered room service and the food was really bad, we told them that and they just said sorry and charged us anyway! That's just stupid and greedy. Now we have too run around the island and eat elsewhere every lunch and dinner.

We really enjoyed The Residence. The service was good. We had a few hiccups at the start but these were ironed out very quickly to allow us to enjoy the holiday. Amazing sandy beaches and warm water made this a really nice break.
