The Champs de Mars - the oldest racecourse in the Southern Hemisphere! Who would have thought it would be in Mauritius? Grew up around here with my dad working for MTC. If you like gambling and horse racing, this is the place for you. Plenty of mauritian drinks and foods here esp alooda on a hot day but one has to try the gâteau piment sold by the old lady at "la boutique bleue"! It is the best. You are advised not to drive to here as there is very limited parking space.

Fond of horse racing? This is the place to be. Had a great day there. Large parking for vehicles. Great foodcourt where you can enjoy different cuisine. Several bookmakers for betting.

Horse racing track in Port Louis. Races are held on Saturdays, but it is seasonal. You can get a local to accompany you and place a bet, or just drive your car inside and watch the horses pass by you for an amazing experience. The main event is the 4th race. Don't worry, the doors open after every race so you can drive outside of the track.

One of the must see places in Mauritius. Horse racing is a real entertainment on Saturdays and there's quite a wonderful atmosphere during the horse racing season. Before you visit, make sure that it's a race day cause there's a racing season calendar. One thing you need to be careful of.is to watch out for pick pockets!!!

I go jogging and play football at Champs de Mars very often.. Unfortunately, there are many dogs on the track. 1 thing missing would be a toilet! We play football for hours and run around the track and without a toilet, it gets difficult to do so. I would be grateful if a toilet could be made available.

Fantastic place to be close to thoroughbreds..mostly of SA origins. U can watch daily training at 5 am and every 2pm at Shakespeare road on week days.

What a great experience! As a tourist/foreigner, we were treated as honoured guests and put in a box in the Grandstand. The races are very colourful events, lots of locals milling about, betting on dead certs. You can buy drinks and snacks for reasonable prices. Tip - listen to the waiter in your hotel if he gives you a tip!
