t’s not often that you miss a hotel when you leave but I’m missing 20 degres sud - big time. Despite the clouds and wind, I have had the most relaxing and enjoyable stay in this intimate hotel.

A great room leading right onto the beach. All white, with an outdoor shower at the back. I slept well, ate well, relaxed and worked well (I’m in Mauritius on business) with very good internet connection.

The front office team and housekeeping are the stars of the show. The welcome was amazingly friendly and efficient and housekeeping was thorough and discrete. The small spa is the ideal retreat or alternative to beach. The F&B service team could do with some training on attentiveness but by the last night we seemed better in sync.

Overall a very special stay and will certainly return.

A very nice small boutique hotel on the shore of Grand Baie. Charming and cosy would be the best words to describe it. The restaurant is pretty good, with focus on seafood. Service is ok, I mean, don't expect super fast service, but since you are on a holiday then that shouldn't be a problem. The hotel also has bikes, sailing boats, kayaks, paddle boards and a surf board that you can use free of charge. Would probably stay here again.

Fabulous, boutique hotel on the beautiful island of Mauritius. Superior food, served by friendly, helpful staff in a relaxed environment. Private beach and a great range of facilities. Thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon here. Thanks to Marcel and all the staff.

It is as close to a classic idea of paradise as one might find. The climate is remarkable, the integration with local flora and fauna is absolute, the restaurant is as good as any and the staff are a joy.

One note, however. If you're looking for anything other than absolute tranquillity, this may not be for you. Every conversation is a whisper. There is no music (well, not entirely true. A trio of local musicians were engaged for two evenings, but they were acoustic and relatively brief. Music for people who aren't going to dance, one might posit).

This isn't a criticism. It is, in the modern age one if the very hardest things to achieve. But for those who travel with a dancing shoes and a hedonism in mind, there may be better places to visit.

For those with a lot of reading to do and a love of doing so with elegantly filled bellied to the soundtrack of lapping waves - you have found your spot.

One of the most romantic hotels we have ever visited!

This boutique hotel is a real gem. This hotel is very different from the many large resorts. Expect staff to greet you by name and genuinely care about your stay.

The food here was fantastic - good choice from the menu & chef's recommendations every day. I would definitely recommend going half board, as the 3 course evening meal was always superb and if we didn't fancy the hotel's set menu, we could choose from a fairly wide range of other dishes a la carte, without any supplement. Breakfast was served by the pool every morning with a great selection on offer. The 4 o clock tea is very nice as well. Every day they will serve tea with some fresh cake.

Service wasn't always the fastest but came with a smile.

If you want to relax in a beautiful environment and be served superb food, but don't fancy sharing the facilities with 100s of other guests, choose this hotel!

My only negative would be the windy bay but there are plenty of beautiful beaches nearby to enjoy. Also, I wouldn't bother with a trip to Grand Baie as its not a particularly charming/scenic place.

Overall we loved our stay at 20 degrees sud and were very pleased with our choice of hotel. There are some extremely smart and luxurious hotels in Mauritius but few as stylish, as comfortable or as welcoming as this place.

    Regards
