Lotus guesthouse gives its profits to an orphanage. You can also volunteer at the orphanage through the hostel.
The hostel itself is clean and well maintained. 3 toilets and 2 showers which is more than many other hostel in Ulaanbaatar. Also one of the shower has its own hot water balloon, which guarantee hot water even when the city cuts it (which can happen).response / report this review -

I love this place! I've stayed here twice and both were positive experiences. The rooms are warm and the staff welcoming. During my first visit, I toured both national parks just outside the city and the owner not only helped me arrange it, but she also found two other woman to decrease the price of the trip. The drivers who pick you up from the airport or train station are very cheerful and safe drivers. One thing to note: the beds in the traditional room are only about 170cm long. I'm 167cm and was just barely comfortable when laying on my stomach. Otherwise, wonderful experiences!!

I found myself coming back again and again to this comfortable guesthouse in UB. The staff are friendly and Anandi has great English which is a bonus in Mongolia. The place is very comfortable, their are many different style rooms to choose from, Over 2 floors. Hey have communal areas and kitchen facilities. As with most places in mongolia breakfast is included in the rate (simple bread and jam and butter and tea) I used this place as a base to travel around Mongolia. When I struggled to achieve my impossible goal to see both the ice festival in khovsgol and the camel festival in Gobi (2 days later) Anandi helped make it possible. When a flight back to UB was postponed till the next day, the guesthouse was able to effortlessly rearrange my pick up from the airport to the next day. The second time I came to mongolia I had a little more experience and friendly faces to return to. This time they helped me change flights and had clear instructions to the immigration to extend my visa.
It gets quite busy at nadaam time so book early!response / report this review -

Nice location and facilities. Has a bath. Botched both my airport pickup and tour which I had set up at least a week in advance. I even called from the airport and they just told me that the car was coming and hung up. I called back and they said to just take a taxi, my car is coming. They refused to work with me on my tour and wouldn't set up another. And after calling from the airport they still didn't have my bed ready when I arrived late at night. Also could not make change well. I just told them to keep it. Golden Gobi hostel fit me in on a tour last minute and I had a great time with them. I wanted to support this hostel because of their supposed work with children but they gave very bad service. Met some nice travelers though.

Good place to sleep in ulan baatar. The place gives a good feeling and the staff are nice. The facilities are good and the showers are really nice. Good value for money. The place is worth staying in.

Really nice place to stay,and look really nice. The staff is not really about talking, and the door of the room are hard to close completely, so it can be a little noisy with the common area, but it was a really nice Guesthouse.
