Japan-Marshall's Bridge

  Built in the early 1980s? The commemorative plaque which is affixed to one end of the bridge has on it March 15, 1983. The plaque reads:
  
  Japan-Marshall's Bridge
  
  Dedicated to the peoples of Japan and the
  Republic of the Marshall Islands as a symbol
  and epitome of friendship, mutual respect
  and understanding to enhance virtuous human
  relationships and cooperation for the promotion
  of human progress and the maintenance of
  everlasting world peace.

  The Japan-Marshall's Bridge is likely the only heavy bridge in the entire country. Kids and young adults sometimes jump from the bridge into the channel below, a channel which separates Maruo Atoll's lagoon from the Pacific Ocean. Fishermen also visit the area under and around the bridge.
